Can you lit molotovs with the propane torch or matches?

Not sure about neither, but I think at least matches should do the trick. Even if not, there should be probably a mod out there for it

No because the Molotov require secondary equipt lighter and it burns the lighter fuel for as long as the lighter is equipt like that char is holding a lit lighter in one hand and a Molotov in the other, and when combat stance throw he has combined the two into a flaming Molotov. He can’t strike a match and hold the Molotov is the logic

And what about the propane torch?

The logic is flawed though (obviously) *sigh*
I mean you can just hold the match box in your teeth, put the match in your left hand, strike it against the cinder line and then ignite the molotov in your right...
but whatever. Game is game.

Yeah it annoyed me when i first discovered you couldn't and I couldn't find a lighter, But lighters back then were pretty rare. Twiggies bar rarely had one, But now its always got some. So its not so bad. Its been this way for number of years so i don't think it'll ever change. though it doesn't really need to change if lighters aren't that rare. Lighters so common now i dont even grab matches.

They're still rare, that's why I am asking. I am running around for about one hour now, trying to find a damn lighter.

...at least at the start. I am trying to find one so that I can burn the hordes around the larger 2-story storage house in the North-West of Muldraugh (on day 1-3).

I really want to build my base there, because of the flat roof, roof access, two stories build, space and the little lake nearby.

I was successful once already, but the zombies seemed to spawn in back faster than i could kill them and I restarted when the zombies inside the damn house destroyed the garage doors (*sigh*).

The molotovs are fairly easy to get by there. You just smash the windows of the neighbouring pub named "Smokeys" (ironic, isn't it) and grab the bourbon bottles.
The nearby field allows you to burn the horde without a big danger of the fire spreading.

I mainly tried cars, car trunks and the little storage room inside houses. Pretty annoying. I will try gas stations next.

This way of starting is also very frustrating though, because the game doesn't count molotov kills as zombie kills for whatever reason. So one is being punished for finding smart solutions...

I think that was fixed recently, now when you equip your molotov and then the lighter on secondary it doesn't "lit" like a no brainer would do, now it remains "off" when in secondary and only burns to lit the molotov.

It does lit automatically if you were to press F without a flashlight.

On topic: imposible, now lighters should be easy to find in car glove boxes, I think that's the best spot after gas stations. The other option whould be to raise the rarity settings for "others" or "survival" items. I mean, lighters are like underwear even here in south america.

I have been searching for a damn lighter for over three hours now.
Like 10 glove boxes, an entire gas station and god knows how many other stupid buildings.
The lack of lighters is starting to wonder me. As is the lack of coffee. I would expect to find coffee almost anywhere, bc almost everyone needs it...

I am starting to think that I am cursed.
I have empty glass bottles, a full tank of fuel and have baited gigantic hordes to be able to loot the buildings in the North. It's like the game is mocking me.

Make sure to check the bathroom of twiggies aswell.
U can also check all the cars
and there might be one in the hotel front desk
check general goods store next to gas station.
otherwise

take a walk west (left of screen) and follow past construction site go to the far gas station.

Time to crack up the loot settings to something it doesn't make you feel cursed. I've never played with "rare" on everything, unless i'm joining a multiplayer server. At least get "Others" to normal ja.

Those prisoners with duffel bags spawn inside a "safehouse", take a look nearby when you loose or kill that horde, be alert on barricaded windows and doors. You might find a lighter at least in one of those safehouses with high tier loot spawn!
