Better inventory mod?
I'm loving the game, but one thing that's really dragging down the experience for me is the horribly clunky and tedious inventory UI that feels like it was designed back in the early 90's. It's just a massive list and it's so annoying and confusing when looting and storing items. Even equipped items just appear in this massive, vomit inducing list instead of a proper "paper doll" UI (i.e. a picture of your character with slots for each equippable item) like almost every other game in existence has used for the last 20 years.

Like, for example, in a grid based system I can organize the items I always want to keep and carry on me in one corner or whatever so that when I loot and store stuff I just transfer everything that's not in that corner. But in this game, everything just gets mixed in together and throughout multiple independent inventories (backpacks for example) no less. So every time I loot and then move and store stuff I have to go through my entire inventory, one line at a time, moving things item by item so I don't mess up and accidentally leave something useful at my base or keep something heavy that I don't need while exploring.

So is there's a mod that give us some kind of proper grid based system or something similar to make this nightmare a bit easier to manage? Also, is there a mod that better handles the looting timer? I understand they don't want you to be able to just insta-loot stuff when there's a horde of zombie right behind you, but transferring items around when you're safe shouldn't be so tedious. So maybe a mod where items at least instantly transfer when you're in your hideout? I've looked around the workshop but haven't seen anything that fits the bill.

Thanks!

To each their own. Personally I loathe the style of GUI you mentioned, a grid layout. It's not any more "proper" than the style the game is currently rolling with. There IS a mod that exists to change the equipment screen to the "paper doll" layout you mentioned. I'll see if I can find the name of it.

It might help you to have containers renamed to what they're used as. For example my two fanny packs I'll rename to "Medical Fanny" and "Tool Fanny" to represent what they contain, and I put items relevant to the containers in them. Another helpful bit it to use favorites. Favoriting an item will make it so it is untransferable except to another inventory you have on you.

There's a mod for managing containers that you may want to look into. It's pretty good from what I hear.

For inventory transfer speeds, the trait Dextrous (vanilla) will move items in and out of your main inventory faster. With the More Traits mod, you can take Quick Worker to decrease the speed of all timed actions. I use this one routinely just because I don't like waiting, well worth the trait points spent for me.

I like your idea. In Multiplayer, you can claim a safehouse. It would be neat to include some code so that in single player you can claim a safehouse as well. So long as you (or a faction member) are in the safehouse, item transfer speed is instant.

You can favorite things to prevent them from getting removed from your inventory.

Get Dextrous trait if you want faster item transfer. And just fast forward when you are moving stuff between containers. Unless you are playing multiplayer.

I can feel your pain.. :P Well my friend, english isn't my native language so don't expect big tips or explanation from me. You can, and must put your items don't want to transfer marked as favorites, items can be sorted, by type, weight, etc and category, i personally prefer clicking in category. I use for example (mod) a satchel for my tools and weapons, and a backpack for hoarding, and in my inventory just the equipped or prioritary use, less weight, etc.

-Items tranfer (A LOT of mods of this type) i personally use this, because it has a lot of sinergy with better sorting, you can customize every container for every item or category you want in.

-To see better and manage your equipment, there is a couple of good mods, try this

-And for fast actions, full customizable via sandobox options.

I actually like this style of inventory UI. It’s simple, quick and out of the way when you don’t need it.

Though I can see how it’s easy to accidentally move items. I need to pretty much double check everytime I transfer loot just to make sure.

I carry as little as possible on me too. So I kinda get used to the few items I’m supposed to have. And as mentioned, you can always favorite items so they don’t get accidentally moved.

it doesnt get simpler. i also thought about better inventory ui but there is none.
look at windows, you have 2 explorer-folder open with lists of folders and subfolder.
PZ ui works the same you can drag drop in both windows select more with shift, have subfolder with backpacks and other containers etc..
you just need get used to it.
