How to find a channel in radio/walkie talkie?
So, from my last loot raid on military base I was able to snatch some tactical walkie talkies and even a military radio. I found the perfect place for them in my base, put em there, changed batteries to new ones and... Couldnt figure how to actually lisen to any channel. There is simply none, and I cant find any by tuning.

How many days in are you? The radio stations go offline pretty early. The only one that stays on is the automated emergency broadcast which only broadcasts for a couple minutes on the hour and is a random channel.

Find other radios that have presets. look in houses, car radios, walkies on zombies. if they have a preset loaded, add that to your radio/walkie using the ADD PRESET button.

The only real important one would be to find the emergency channel for helicopter events (if you enabled it) and weather warnings.

some other radios will have it as a preset, keep searching for it in game. OR one at a time check each and every 10,000 channels,

OR

you can open your save file and see it listed in there....don't do that. thats no fun.

Many radios will have presets already in them. Find a radio with preset stations, write down the frequency, then set it as a preset in the radio you want to use. The only station that changes frequency between play through's is the automated emergency broadcast, which is also the only one that will still be broadcasting after the first couple weeks.

EBS will be in the range of a regular radio not HAM/Military grade. 80-110mhz iirc.

I have actually done manual tuning to find channels

You edit the channel and go up by a single unit by clicking on the arrows on either side of the channel selector. Start at the lowest and work your way up. 88.0 to 88.2 to 88.4 to etc

As soon as you find a channel, even if it plays nothing, it'll state the name of the station at the top of the UI (there is a channel named Unknown Frequency. only way to find it is to find or know the frequency. It's 107.6)

Be sure to save the Channel to a different preset so you don't lose it. Most stations go dark like a Week in but some will continue to play. Most well known one is the Emergency Broadcast.

Doing this is EXTREMELY painful and time consuming. I had to do it as I was doing a Forest Playthrough and found a Walkie Talkie on a zombie. It was the only way for me to find the AEBF but I wouldn't recommend it to general players

Thanks everyone for you responses. After some succesful scavaging, I finally found a premium tech radio with emergency station channel in it. It was 98.4, I tuned all of my devices at home (Military radio and some tactical walkie talkies) and it worked!
Im playing default survival mode, so I doubt any helicopters will visit me again, haha.
But still, I love the aesthetic, of having a working radio at your home... Even if it only broadcasts weather info

The weather forecast is very useful especially for fog and storm/blizzard (in which I never went out of my hole).
Just remember the frequency is random so next time you start a new game the frequency may(must be) differ.
