Or try that Antibodies mod, that requires you to fight off the infection by keeping yourself well fed, well rested, well heated, well entertained and preferably utterly shítfaced as well.
Or I think Resident Medic has anti-virus pills you can find or make which reduce the infection to initially infected, but doesn't cure it.
Or any number of other mods that I don't know about that probably alter the infection mechanic in some way or another, etc.
Or yeah just disable infection entirely in the sandbox settings altogether. The vanilla option, and also the most powerful
Same for Greb, I have a tailored experience and I'm just trying to fix a very specific thing.
Like, if turning off infection and turning it back on again removes the infection from an active bite, I'm A-OK with that. I just want to know if that is exactly how it works. Like infection off, and back on, and still have the bite, I'm not going to get reinfected, right?
You should really back up your save folder before you try anything though.
I'm trying to find the infection button for an active save, I don't think one exists, especially with what Malthar said.... Also
I think I made it perfectly clear by the fact I said I'd be happy with infection under every other circumstance, and hyper focused on the specific bite, with specifics to the circumstances around, rather than just the fact I was infected.
Also to hell with that, I'd rather not play the game at all if I can't fix circumstances that are even less fair than the intended realism.
Having trouble finding that, honestly, hoping someone could help me find it.
Been playing with infection off lately (actually, everyone's infected, no spread, no mortality). It makes the game more interesting for me, as I'm always fighting to survive rather than giving up at any point because I know it's hopeless. Even if I get whittled down to severely injured and gnawed all over, I can still bounce back if I play my cards right.
I've tried to use debug to clear an infection but it doesn't seem to let you unless you resort to, well, god mode. or maaybe if you use the right console command to do it? whihc...no, i don't know what it is.
I recommend you get the antibodies mod. you still want to avoid getting bitten/scratched, becuase recovery is NOT guaranteed, but there's still hope for you if you do.
quick edit, my eyes are glazing over aparently today, didnt see the part where you did infact say that, apologies.
Should give you what you need.
For me personally I like the fact I CAN get infected, I just don't want to suffer an infection from a situation that occurred from an instance that had nothing to do with what my intentions were, or outside the intended design of the game.
The feeling to getting bitten with infections from those circumstances is similar to encountering a hacker on a casual multiplayer game. You just feel frustrated in a way that is entirely unsatisfying at every level, since there's nothing to even learn in those events that you can improve upon.
Its an irredeemable garbage situation if you can't fix those scenarios and/or don't have the option to.
Also OP, what do you mean infection button?
I get why you're frustrated. I think every character I've lost in Zomboid I had a frustrated feeling after of "damn, that didn't go how I thought it would." Some of them are "bugs" some are my own miscalculations of the situation. This is just the nature of the game, and a game that is still heavily under development at that.
Others have posted solutions, give them a try, but I expect you'll have the same gut feeling that you were cheated the next time you get bit.
