Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid

Are there any mods that remove JUST an infection from a bite?
Got bit because my character didn't do what I intended them to do, which was loot an object through a window. Instead they hopped THROUGH the window and a zombie I knew was there bit them as they went over the loot-able object.

I remember trying to fix a bite before with "god mode" but that cures literally EVERYTHING wrong with your character, and ended up deleting that save. I JUST want to fix a bite I got because of something equally stupid to a bug: unintentional user movement unaffiliated with game's mechanics.

I'm not cheating cause game too hard, I'm cheating cause I feel cheated in a way that isn't realistic. If I were bit because of a large horde, or because I panicked, or because of lack of caution, I'd leave it....

So yea, any updated mods that let me just *pop* that bite outta existence so I can keep all my default settings and continue like normal? Keyword: updated.

Note: I don't mind if it fixes all my "injuries" since the bite is the only injury my character has, I just don't want to fix the fact he's obese, weak, etc.

just turn off infection?

Try "They Knew" which adds rare spawning zombies (rarity adjustable in sandbox settings) that hold a one use infection cure on them. Cures infection while still adding a relative bit of challenge considering you have to locate them before you can use them, etc.

Or try that Antibodies mod, that requires you to fight off the infection by keeping yourself well fed, well rested, well heated, well entertained and preferably utterly shítfaced as well.

Or I think Resident Medic has anti-virus pills you can find or make which reduce the infection to initially infected, but doesn't cure it.

Or any number of other mods that I don't know about that probably alter the infection mechanic in some way or another, etc.

Or yeah just disable infection entirely in the sandbox settings altogether. The vanilla option, and also the most powerful :stronk:

I believe the debug mode which has prompts to heal you in the medical window doesn't effect traits at all and simply repairs what is wrong. I think it is a start-up setting. Look around for it on the internet and you should find what you need.

Is that like a turn it off and on again kinda thing? Or are you saying keep it off, because I tried to make it clear I obviously want to be able to get infected and junk, and don't want my actual game to change in anyway aside from this short fix.

Same for Greb, I have a tailored experience and I'm just trying to fix a very specific thing.

Like, if turning off infection and turning it back on again removes the infection from an active bite, I'm A-OK with that. I just want to know if that is exactly how it works. Like infection off, and back on, and still have the bite, I'm not going to get reinfected, right?

you didnt really make it clear at all, not once did you say you wanted to keep the chance of infection. based of this new info, no, theres no easy simple fix for this. die and restart like any other bite

I never tried this, but what happens if you turn off infection in the sandbox temporarily, wait for the bite to heal, then turn it back on?

You should really back up your save folder before you try anything though.

I'm trying to find the infection button for an active save, I don't think one exists, especially with what Malthar said.... Also

I think I made it perfectly clear by the fact I said I'd be happy with infection under every other circumstance, and hyper focused on the specific bite, with specifics to the circumstances around, rather than just the fact I was infected.

Also to hell with that, I'd rather not play the game at all if I can't fix circumstances that are even less fair than the intended realism.

Having trouble finding that, honestly, hoping someone could help me find it.

Been playing with infection off lately (actually, everyone's infected, no spread, no mortality). It makes the game more interesting for me, as I'm always fighting to survive rather than giving up at any point because I know it's hopeless. Even if I get whittled down to severely injured and gnawed all over, I can still bounce back if I play my cards right.

Existing infections will still exist if you do that. that only applies to chance on bite/scratch, and there are modded traits that can give you a chance to be infected *anyways*.

I've tried to use debug to clear an infection but it doesn't seem to let you unless you resort to, well, god mode. or maaybe if you use the right console command to do it? whihc...no, i don't know what it is.

I recommend you get the antibodies mod. you still want to avoid getting bitten/scratched, becuase recovery is NOT guaranteed, but there's still hope for you if you do.

For me personally I like the fact I CAN get infected, I just don't want to suffer an infection from a situation that occurred from an instance that had nothing to do with what my intentions were, or outside the intended design of the game.

The feeling to getting bitten with infections from those circumstances is similar to encountering a hacker on a casual multiplayer game. You just feel frustrated in a way that is entirely unsatisfying at every level, since there's nothing to even learn in those events that you can improve upon.

Its an irredeemable garbage situation if you can't fix those scenarios and/or don't have the option to.

He said he wants to fix this one bite because he felt that bite was cheap. Read between the lines lmao

I get why you're frustrated. I think every character I've lost in Zomboid I had a frustrated feeling after of "damn, that didn't go how I thought it would." Some of them are "bugs" some are my own miscalculations of the situation. This is just the nature of the game, and a game that is still heavily under development at that.

Others have posted solutions, give them a try, but I expect you'll have the same gut feeling that you were cheated the next time you get bit.
