If you try to purify water in a microwave on the lowest couple of settings, it's going to take a while. Put it to max, I say.
+ what does the far left symbol means?
Not sure what the far left symbol suppost to mean but it affects the temperature (left colder, right hotter). Last time I tested it (has been a while) the temperature did nothing. But as Kaldrak pointed out the temperature affects the time necessary greatly now. High temperature appears to be just better since it takes less time. Possible that you needed more time for the water to be drinkable. Dosen't take longer than 20 min on the highest temperature according to my testing.
...that said the temperature of the target will go up a bit faster if the containers "temperature" is higher, so if you're just sterilizing water, setting the microwave temperature wayh up high is probably better since you don't have to worry about the water exploding becuase zomboid logic. But I generally just use campfires/grills and cooking pots anyways sooo...shrug
