Those are specific Mushrooms
They also changed food poisoning so it'll just straight up kill you
Ok. so...
When testing with debug-mode-spawned berries, and weak stomach, there was a chance to do an "instant" 25, 50, or 75% food poisoning status on consuming a full berry, PLUS about 12-16% additional food poisoning over time. Hit 100%, your dead.
You cannot see this meter directly without debug mode.
As such, only ONE berry is actually "safe" (at least with weak stomach), and ONLY if your stomach is COMPLETELY clear of gunk, which can easily take 12 hours to a day depending on how bad the case is (I don't remember the exact timing); you are NOT clear immediately after the queasy moodle disapears. You can be a bit safer and eat only 1/2 of a berry at a time, and only take 12.5, 25, or 37.5% instant food poison damage, plus a bit extra.
Poison mushrooms might be different. Some poison berries might only do food-poison-over-time, it's hard to be completely sure due to the limitations of spawning berries in.
Burnt, rotten, and dangerous uncooked foods only do food-poison-over-time; this means you will NEVER see the queasy/nauseous moodle immediately after consuming them. The amount is proportional to the amount of hunger satisfied, making rotten icecream one of the only rotten foods worth consuming unless you're reallllly desperate to stretch out your food supply. IIRC you can eat around 10 burnt food at a time safely, and then you have to wait for your stomach to clear.
berries are assigned a posionous state on world creation some berry sprites could be safe one world but toxic in another.
one or 2 berries wont usually kill you unless weak stomach or prone to illness otherwise eat a bunch of lemon grass after testing
From what I can tell:
Foraged holly berries are always poisonous, while other named berries are always edible (e.g. winterberries); but spawned in holly berries are on a seperate system for some reason. presumably, this also means that using debug mode will NOT let you identify which no-name berries are poisonous unless you actually eat them or give yourself the herbalist trait. Similarly, if you are using the vegetation-everyhwere mod, removing vegetation will give you VERY randomized berries and you DO need the herbalist trait to safely consume its mushrooms and berries in bulk, as it WILL make poison and non-poison berries with the same sprite.
The non-named berries and mushrooms will have a number of them selected to be poisonous. (iirc, 2 of them in all?) you can, through careful experimentation, figure out which ones are poisonous and which ones are not, in a specific playthrough/world.
