Grills/fires/cooking devices
Is anyone knowledgable enough to explain the pros and cons of each fireplace/oven etc. and whether or not they can be used indoors? I'm starting a playthrough with settings dialed down enough that I think I'll need to know this. Thanks.

Afaik, the antique oven and fireplace are the only ones that can be safely used indoors, Campfire i know for sure is unsafe indoors. Never was willing to test either grill after what happened with the campfire.
Both charcoal and propane grills are safe to use indoors.

Campfire is also safe to use indoors if you know how to set them up.

Also, microwave will catch fire if you put anything metallic inside. Which basically mean you can't cook using microwave aside from 'cooking' drinks and premade food like TV dinner or popcorn.

Everything is safe to use indoors. You must switch off the ovens however.
I like to have a woodfired portable BBQ with me wherever I go as they are light weight and you can throw almost anything in them for fuel.
Fireplaces are just stationary fires and cannot burn down a house if left lit.
The gas powered BBQs I don't even use, because I rip the bottle out for refueling propane torches.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Campfires are the only thing I would avoid, because unlike any of the other choices you can set yourself on fire with a campfire if you are not careful (I'll give you three guesses how I know that).

So really cool thing about Antique Oven's as well is that they're the only Oven capable of producing heat around itself. You can see the temperature change on your watch when you turn it on. Can be a great Oven in the Winter to heat your home.

As well though, a Barbeque Grill can actually operate indoors safely without risk of carbon monoxide poisoning or fire! My buddy tested it out in debug mode!

You can use a Campfire indoors but you gotta put an outdoor tile like Dirt on the floor or the whole building catches on fire (even if it's metal)

Ya but their heat is pretty crap compared to Antique Ovens lol

They do work for Heating if you're in a Cryogenic WInter run or something and are in a bind

Yes, well, Putting it on an 'outdoor tile' when indoors is very much not the natural conclusion to come to when playing the game.. That's pretty much something you can only learn from googling/looking it up/being told. :winter2019joyfultearsyul: I'm glad there's some kinda special trick for it, but, let's be real, Most people are gonna put their campfire on a tile floor thinking it's not wooden it won't burn or something and roast their character.

I found that out the hard way, camping at the Storage Unit outside of Riverside. I stole the microwave from the office and tried cooking a Stir Fry:

I have just made it to late November for the first time and just noticed temps in my house getting as low as 45F. How are the houses heated? Are they hot heated if I have a generator running?
