Cats and Dogs
WIll they be added to the game? Animals are a hot topic right now and I was stirring my coffee with a piece of bacon. This random thought popped in my head today. I feel like a few other pz players have maybe perhaps thought this as well...

It's tough to say. There is a dog food everywhere, but how much cat food have you found? It seems that no one in Tennessee owns a cat. I have found cat toys before, but no cat food. It truly is a mystery to me.

Adding cat food probably wouldn't be too much of an issue. I'm not a game programmer..i dont know. I noticed there is a mod for dogs. Not sure how great it is.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Dog food is for me.
Its the one thing I have not eaten in all my PZ life. Can you make soup/stew out of it?

No. You can't even add them to a bowl which is sad

Well dog will help in combat changes the game. I can’t see it happening for a while. Not to say it won’t happen though.

Dog in real life will defend you even the weakest dogs. So basically what does this mean? Well if it’s unleashed, it will go for the feet of the zombies chihuahua and youl have to rescue it.

Even though I do not eat them. I do collect dog food. I usually keep it as a last resort but I've never lived long enough...

Will animals be able to get infected as well? Because then your dog attacking zombies is basically a death sentence for the dog. If the dog bites into the leg (or any other body part) of a zombie wouldn't that mean the dog would get infected with the virus? Unless of course only humans can be infected.

They have said there will be no special infected (zombie animals are special infected), the virus may still be fatal though.

So basically that would rule out your dog being helpful in any combat situation? Unless the dog is used to simply distract zombies or to jump on them to make them fall down. But biting zombies would be out of the question as that would lead to a guaranteed death of your dog, if we assume the virus affects dogs as well, regardless if that means the dog simply dying or turning into a dog zombie. Anyway I guess we will see.

Beast of burden is good enough for me.

Never underestimate the modding community. Armor for your pets will definitely be a thing.

I actually meant that if a dog is biting a zombie, it means it will get blood of the zombie in it's mouth and therefore contracting the virus. Armor wouldn't really prevent this.

That's not a game mechanic unless they add it.
Plus I was a just making a joke, because I know the modding community always fills in some gaps
