The Far-Too-Elusive Home VHS
I'm disappointed to read that certain video tapes (the home variants) that can teach skills only spawn ONCE on an entire game world.

Some of them would be valuable, such as "Tailoring 101" and "Combat Wound Management." The problem is that there is only one of each - ever - in a world with hundreds of thousands of valid, potential hiding spots.

If their location was known or could be learned, it would be hard enough, but at least they would be attainable. No such luck; instead it is an impossible treasure hunt for fools. So what's the point?

You might be fortunate and lucky enough to come across and recognize such a home video, and take it as a collector's item. But there's also a chance you won't even notice or recognize its value. Does "Home VHS: no 9" sound like title of a video that can give you over 100 base points in Metalworking? Not to me, but that's what it does.

So, it's not worth actively seeking them out, unless there is a mod that can assist the search. You'll be better off doing hands-on training with no skill books.

I suppose the devs were thinking: "It's not quite the same as a mass-produced tape meant for the market" but I kinda agree with you. You think about Louisville on it's own and that'd be a nightmare to try and find one of these things.

I think the same logic that's applied to VHS tapes you can find in stores should be applied to home VHS. You can find multiple Carpentry so why not multiple Tailoring 101?

So on the other hand, multiple house-holds could have their own recordings of teaching people things but with their own take on it. Like Combat Wound 101 - logs of individual soldiers doing their own remedies.

Have only found a katana a couple of times in many many playthroughs. Some loot is supposed to be super rare I guess, although it does make less sense when talking about a VHS tape :)

I have some super rare '80 adult VHS. Some of those have only a few - less than 10 - original copies in the world.

Lucky you?
I'm okay with rarity. But the issue is that there are absolutely no hints to where these single videos could be hidden in the HUGE game world. You might as well play the lottery.
