Smoking trait
Is it possible to be weened off nicotine ingame after 2 weeks or 3? I smoked for 13 years and quit. Took me 2 weeks to get over the urge.

Nope. If you pick the trait, you're in for the long haul. It's the easiest negative trait to manage by far, and is actually beneficial in most cases as it gives you a way to manage stress and depression.

We should have the ability to quit. It wouldn't be easy. You would be anxious, tense and lose sleep the entire quitting process. I've never bothered trying to quit ingame which is what got me thinking about it.

There's a mod for that. But I doubt it'll happen in vanilla- The point of negative traits is, for the most part, to be a long term negative effect to balance out your positive trait choices.

If you could just get out of every negative, then they lose that balancing effect.

Ya

Because I loot the bodies of every zombie I kill and raid nearby gas stations I tend to end up with over 2000 cigarettes before a Month even passes

Just keep some lighters/matches and a handful of smokes in a Fanny Pack next to your pens and you can stave off the urges for awhile

That doesn't apply with weight though does it? You can fluctuate being overweight and underweight. Do the negative or positive traits still remain if you lose or gain?

Finding tobacco products isn't a problem. I also use a mod to where I can refill zippos. I also have yet to find a fanny pack on this current run.

Yeah, Weight is the only changing negative trait. The detrimental effects are tied to the trait except for the loss of fitness/strength; That's a permanent effect when selected as a character negative.

Bu,t you can also lose OR gain it based on your actual weight in game- If you dont eat enough you'll become underweight, if you overeat you'll get fat.

But, with other negative traits like Smoker, once you've lost it, you're not going to regain it. There's no beneficial gain from smoking a cigarette in game if you don't have the smoker trait, And there aren't any of the neurological impulses to drive you to smoking again like IRL.

So once smoker is gone, it's gone; But once you gain or lose enough weight to get out of the weight trait, you still have to carefully balance your weight to not slip back into a weight trait again; And if you struggle finding food for awhile you might not have a choice but to end up underweight again.

I deal with weight gain by doing push-ups and sit-ups regularly. Infact, I have to be careful and not work out too much or ill start losing weight like crazy. I also keep a balance between fatty foods and more healthy options. One day itll be potato chips and redbull another day beans and rice.
