Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid

is there an escape route?
i was playing this and then spawned in, and heard some news about the lore of the game, and this got me thinking
is it possible to escape in the vanilla game?

Technically based on the lore as well, the entire world has gone to sjiet. So no matter where you go there will zombies. You don't really have anywhere to escape to.
This. As you play a little more OP you'll learn that in the lore(at least as I recall it), because of the helicopter that breaks the no-fly restriction- The one that harasses the player- It lures too many zombies back to the blockade, and they break containment, flooding out into the rest of the world..

Escape where? You can't leave the game world boundaries and there's currently no 'win' conditions other than what you set for yourself, sorry.

To where?

The map is finite. If you walk to the edge of the world there is no more map.

There is no end game either, except for your death.

The map is fairly large and will be added to officially by the developers in future builds.

What you do within the confines of the pretty large map is up to you. And then you will die from zombie or some other thing.

You can role play it in your head when you consider you escaped: make it up:

I will try to make it the far bridge in Louisville (edge of the map) and then pretend "I won"

or whatever.

Your only goal is to survive. But you will die. Dying is part of living, so don't be sad.

The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

When final release of Zomboid comes out - Devs have said there will be a proper ending.
We are talking about years in the future though

Staying at knox county is probably the best thing the player can do, right at ground zeros. With the news and radio stations mentioning the utter chaos outside caused by civilians, with severe riots, rampant looting, and extreme crimes being commited outside. There was even a broadcast at KnoxTalk about a mother talking about the knox event, only to get her home broken into by looters, and her fate being a mystery. Ironically, being right where it all started, is the safest escape.

If I recall right, the helicopter that harrases you isn't responsible for the blockade being breached, the news mentioned it was gunfire and explosions caused by the military and rioters in louisville that attracted thousands of zombies to breach the blockade

Wow, how did zombies make it intercontinental? A lot of people would have to hide their bites, or the zombie virus has air/water transmission vectors? Or some fanatics launching a purposeful attack to spread it?

Because even a couple people catching it would probably not be able to start exponential infections abroad.

The Knox event began between July 2nd and July 6th, the week leading up through where the game begins on default settings.

Initially the infection seemed to spread via fluids- Blood and saliva specifically, and so it was easily containable(Hence the barricade around the knox area). The day the game begins, however, July 9th, The virus mutates, becoming airborne and begins a rapid spread through the rest of the very unprepared world.

Yay lore! :winter2019happyyul:

Oh, huh, that makes sense. So the strain in Knox County is only spread by contact, but strains elsewhere have become airborne?
