Can you cut down trees with a saw?
Can you cut a tree down with a saw? And give me a list of items that could chop down trees too.

No. You can only cut down a tree with an axe. You can chop down trees with other things, but you would end up breaking them before you did, making it pointless. You can make a Stone Axe by foraging for Chipped Stone and a Tree Branch. Once you have those, you use a Ripped Sheet or Twine to tie them together. One Stone Axe will chop down about 4 trees before it breaks.

Forage. Right click in wooded areas and stuff to try and get option for it.

It's worth mentioning that you're gonna have a bad time finding chipped stones if you're playing with hydrocraft enabled. It seems to horribly affect the drop rate.
