Cant utilize more Ram
Hello,

For some reason i have no -Xms, so i could only change the -Xmx value to 4069m in the JSON file, aswell as in the Batchfile. Still, my Ram is capped at 2-3 Gigs.

The Problem i have is, that driving cuts my fps off drastically, and i wanted to utilize more Ram in order to fix that, but for some reason, it doesnt work. is there another way i can try to do that, or did i made an mistake? And why is -Xms missing for me?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Thats helpful, thanks.

I have a couple question though:

1. What can i do to reduce the fps drops while driving?
2. The default value is -Xmx3072m right? I just want to be sure that i left everything as it should be now.

And another small thing:
I reinstalled the game so that the default values of -Xmx would reset, and they did, but i noticed that my Ram usage now rises up to 3.4 gigs while playing, is that normal? Because i though that 3gb is the default limit?

Thanks :)

1. Zoom out less, lower other settings, have an SSD instead of a HDD, otherwise not much else, the game does not perform well in high speed zoomed out situations.
2. That is correct
3. Do not trust the Task Manager to show the RAM usage, since Java reserves RAM differently, you can check with a tool such as VisualVM to show the actual RAM usage, it would usually be around 1.2-2.3

Thank you again for the help and explanation!

Lastly i wanted to ask you, are there specific mods which can make the performance worse, or is it just the amount of mods installed that make the difference? I only have like 3 or 4 mods installed, i think those shouldn't make the game run worse right?

Some mods will definitely have a performance impact. It depends on the mods used, can't really say without seeing them.

I only use Vanilla Firearms Expansion, Filibuster Rhymes' Used Cars, and Rain Wash.

Some do and some do not, you can only really tell by testing, as far as I know there is no list of bad performing mods, and I personally do not have experience with those.

I recommend reading the mod page and some of the comments. Typically other players will report any issues.

Those specific mods always ran fine for me but I haven't used mods for a few months.
