Normal lamps will go off for ever, try to find lamps where you can exchange the bulbs.
I'm usure of the range of a generator, I generally assumed it would power it's entire house, since it only powers things in the map from the beginning, and not player made constructions.
Yes, that said the generator has 100% condition, full fuel, turns on, is audible, uses fuel, and powers the fridge at the far side of the house. It will however not power any lights, on the outside or inside of the house.
I can't see lights to replace in the interior, only lightswitches to turn on and off. I replaced the light bulb in an exterior fixture on this house and it still will not turn on either.
What qualifies a normal lamp versus a non normal lamp? The external light fixture on this house went out and I replaced the bulb with one I'd found and it changed nothing.
It's really silly that you power a building and the lights don't work...
Obviously if I'm powering the fridge then it's within range, and I've also connected and started the generator already.
It's not powering anything except the fridge, and I assume the stove which has never been turned on. The rest of the house is dark, no lights, nothing else.
So sadly no, none of those are my problem. It is literally in the centre of the house, the whole house is maybe 20 tiles long total, probably less, meaning maybe 10 tiles at most in any direction to get to the edge of the house from the generator. And since I've read it, connected it, fueled it, started it, and have had the fridge functioning for an in game month, but no lights, no matter what I can find to do, I'm frustrated. I dislike living in the dark with a noisy generator.
Anyway have you tried getting one of those small nightstand lamps which are often in bedrooms ? Those could work with generator although i'm not sure since i never felt need of using a generator.
From my experience so far, one generator ingame can power up 20 fridges, lot of lamps and even a oven at the same time.
That's a lot of fish!
How about fuel consumption ? 100% full will last for how many hours ? (asking you since you have experience with them and im curious)
The full generator (10000) doesnt seem to be affected by the number of things you are running.
We talk here about nearly 2 days, its a ca answer because i only played mp games in the last time,
I can confirm this, a generator powering nothing consumes fuel at the same rate.
I also don't see any cap on power, though someone mentioned wattage. That might be real life wattage of a generator they've used, but the game itself makes no qualifications of power drain in the way it runs that I've ever found. Even if it did if we assume 240 V at 30 A for a stove, when it's on would be 7.2 kW, assuming it draws the maximum power allowed by the line, which tye generally don't, they usually draw in the range of 2 kW. Fridges are less than 1 kW. So if your generator is running 1.5 kW which is very low, running a fridge it would still be able to run quite a few lights, even if they were incandescent bulbs since it's 1993 in the game.
Interesting, in my experience it's losing fuel at a much faster rate than it loses durability, and I think I'm losing more like 2% fuel per hour, but haven't timed it so that's a guess. May go test it.
mee too. the fuel always seems to go faster than durability when i use generators, although I only use them for taking gas out of the gas stations for vehicles
