Medic Profession. What high level of first aid skill does?
Hey guys. I'm playing with a group online and everyone get's a rolepay.
We have a eletricist, a hunter, a cooker, a farmer, one ''guard'' to defend us, but, what the medic does ? (Obviously heal and treath wounds of the group)

My question:
What's the difference of First aid 3 and First aid 10?

Honestly? not a whole lot, as far as i can tell, first aid can only really help identify the severity of any wounds, it doesnt really help in speeding up the process at which people heal, or atleast if it does, its not significant enough to be noticable without doing direct research, basically since it doesnt help to noticably speed up the healing process(if it even does) and its only used to identify the severity of a wound(useless since you are going to treat them until they are gone anyway) it really just doesnt matter.

Really, first aid as a skill is missing the point of usefulness, since we dont need any skill to treat every single wound and any level of first aid does not seem to assist in any useful aspect, a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stoner with a stump arm is just as useful at patching other people up as a brain surgeon, so just give this a pass.

Edit: go be a Park Ranger, that way you can trap animals effectively, more useful.

You are incorrect. If you have a 3 or 4 doctor or above that heals a fracture, the player with the fracture can already run again. (Of course slowly, but he can still run.) If you had a level 10 doctor heal a fracture, the player would probably be able to already run at least about half his normal running speed. (This is my guess) So doctors are very good. They speed the healing process a lot. For me, first aid in a multiplayer group is required. Especially in base building, because, you know, all those fractures.

The big problem with first aid is a lack of non-lethal injuries that require treatment. Scratches are what would be the most treated injury, buuuut they kill you with 1 in 4 cases, no matter what. Whoops.

In the rare case that you manage to break a leg, you are probably far away from a safe spot (or was forced to abandon one) and will get promptly bitten. And treating bites is pointless, that 5 or so percent chance isn't something that you can count on.

I hadn't played multiplayer in pvp, but i would assume that you will bleed out from gunshot wound(s) before you have proper time to treat it. So either have a dedicated medic or give up on first aid.

That's the point. Have a dedicated medic in MP. Also, how would you break your leg away from a safe place? It is extremely rare that people have to jump out of a two story window

Gotta agree with denton here, in MP thats PvE its largely still useless since the majority of the time players receive damage from zombies, which more often then not will result in unpreventable death, where as in PvP MP, chances are you will not live long enough to bring first aid up to a level that is useful.

Again, overall its a skill that doesnt justify spending any points into it at character creation since in almost every situation imaginable, it isnt going to be of note worthy use.

Any other skill focus is more useful then First Aid, simply because first aid requires people to be injured for it to be of use, and considering the difficulty curve of this game, by recieving injuries frequently you will likely die too soon to see the full benefits of it, where flip side it, people who almost never make those kinds of mistakes wont ever level it because they are too careful and experienced.

Now if we could attempt to perform first aid on dead corpses to better understand how to do so as a way to level, THEN i could see it being justifiable, since their is an endless and relentless horde of corpses waiting to be made use of.

I think that when (If) NPCs comes around the trait will be more usefull considering that they will have weapons.

See, thats another thing im talking about, when NPCs do come out, chances are one of them is going to be a medical specialist, still further negative any point in picking it yourself.
