Can I survive the winter on foraged food?
I am established into a big farm with a well north-west of Muldraugh, and I have been leveling my foraging skill pretty fast since I am surrounded by forests.
Is it possible to survive the winter only on these resources if I collect a lot of non-perishable food through the hot seasons, or will I be forced to eat canned food or look for some other ways?

Yes, if you collect and save enough non-perishable foraged foods, you can eat them during the winter.

it highly depends on the amount of food you have. / are able to gather before, and during winter. and the food consumption rate of the server.

some servers have food consumption really high. so you end up having to eat like every 30 game minutes. others have it at a more realistic rate. an others have it so rare that...it might as well be turned off.

but i suppose anything is possible so...you could try...though i'm guessing a zombie will scratch or bite you before you starve to death .

I don't think I will, since I live pretty far away from town, but who knows.

I'm in normal mode and I didn't tweak any settings.

Well, with high level foraging you can get frog meat, doesn't that give you enough calories? I can use canned food, I've got lots of it, but I don't want to use it since it is not renewable.

From my experience with Winter and Foraging, it depends on your Skill Level. If you have no Skill there, you will most likely find barely anything to eat. It should be up to Foraging 3 to get you through Winter but you will lose a lot of weight since it is barely enough to feed you.

Yeah I know, thanks to cars I got out of westpoint and established with a lot of supplies in a farm away from cities, but not seeing any zombie for days is a bit boring, I even got out of the farm for some hours in-game just to kill some zombies in nearby houses who weren't threatening me at all x)

Btw, after some time, can zombies form herd and get into the wilderness and eventually attack a farm away from cities?

Yes herds will eventually find you. That damn helicopter leads them like the pied piper to my out of town bases every time.
