I honestly can not understand why this game is popular.
I mean, having half your characters begin with killing yourself because your spawn house somehow does not have a single weapon is not, in my opinion, good game design.

It's time for you to grow up and fledge the nest, friend. You can't hide in your bedroom forever! Get out there and start bringing home the bacon :winter2019angrybulb:

you can start with a weapon if in the sandbox mode you enable the option for the starter kit

it appeals to people who like games like cdda. its not meant for everyone unless you have some sort of guide to ease you in.

You can choose the starter kit which is guaranteed 2 solid weapons. You can also change the loot settings to guarantee weapons in your house, unless you spawn in the moving like house outside of riverside. If you have a hero complex go play world of warcraft and only pve or something.

In my opinion even spawning in Riverside trailers i tend to find SOME weapon in the first house to get me through the first few zombies easily, on vanilla (Apocalypse) loot settings. Try the kitchens, i usually find at least a rolling pin, saucepot or frying pan. If you know the map half well you usually know where to go from the starter house to get something better after that, just don't engage too many zombies on the way and the frying pan should get you there.

its about getting better, i dont need a weapon, if you need one turn the starter kit on in the options

The whole game revolves around dealing with the hand you're dealt.

No weapon? You still have your hands and feet. Shove them to knock them over and stomp on their heads. Think that's too scary? Apply some sneaking skills to get to another house and check there. Get found while sneaking? Lure the zombies away and double back- You're faster than them; Get into the house, search quick, find a weapon, then deal with the zombies that found you.

You, OP, Are essentially chickening out of the issue presented- That is to say, Not having a decent weapon in your house- by taking the easy way out and starting over.

I agree the game is awful.

Imagine thinking you need a weapon to kill zombies lol.

People have mentioned the starting kit which is a viable way to start. I also tend to play with reduced starting zombie numbers at game start and balance it with having them be much higher as the game progresses. Lets you explore a little easier in the first couple days. The settings exist so you can choose your own specific ideal scenario.

My ideal scenario in a zombie game is being able to control my character easily.

Stick to Borderlands bud. Zomboid is for grown men and women. Maybe in a few years you can come back and give it a shot.

You can start without a weapon on all difficulties no problem. The real problem isn’t that he has no weapon it’s that he doesn’t know where to go in a situation that’s unwinnable. 75% of starter homes do not provide adequate equipment for the character. This is normal. To do anything in this situation means that basically you have to leave the house. If it wasn’t a weapon you lacked then food you will lack. If not weapon or food now it’s a vehicle. Do what any sane person would do, break the neighbours house in or go to a public place with shops. Frantically hunt around. There is also a forage tool for foraging weapons in these situations. Though it requires walking around with zombies reacting to you trying to stop you.
