Can you zoom with scopes in this game?

Which doesn't help at all, rifles are terrible to aim and hit.

i agree. A small zoomed bubble with a crosshair in it appearing on screen would have been so much better.
oh.....i din't tought it was that....useless.... :/

Only until you get some aim skill. Start with the shotgun and work your way up to the rifle.

Think of the shooting mechanics less as those of an action game and more those of a rpg - it's based on % chance to hit, not where your mouse pointer clicks. Things like scopes, level of panic you're experiencing, standing vs moving stance of shooter all influence the chance to hit ;)

This :)

And also, a lot of that percentage relates to your skill in aiming. So if you want to be a good shooter in an RPG like Zomboid you need to pick a profession/trait or train that skill up to be good at that stuff. The game gets much easier when you think about it in terms of RNG (kind of like the early Fallout games [1&2, a couple of my favorite games ever]) :)

Reminds me of Fallout 1. It's just hard to think like that sometimes without the indicators and it doesn't look like that's how it works. :P

That would be pretty neat and it would look something out of commandos franchise :D
oh, to look at it from a rpg stand point....hmmm, that is interesting, surelly i can see it,but i do wonder, if the scope helps you aim further at a small range......than what is the normal range without scope?....for the normal weapons as well? i imagine its preety short.

and also, since weapons are such a bad idea to use in general other than a distraction, or a last resort, there ins't really much reason to "train" my aiming skill, by hunting zombies/animals with it, it just seem to dangerous....

wich is why i will make a sugestion in a upcoming thread made by me.

Haha, I agree that's the irony. Guns in this game are much better for distractions or last stands when you're really trapped. "Training" them is mostly for flavor because being a good shot doesn't do much practical good in either of those situations.

But from an RP sense it is kind of cool to make a character who's a good shot.

Problem is that I think that high range scopes decrease minimum range and increase max range. The question is, how much of both? Can you hit things 10m from you? 15m? How far can you shoot? Just to the edge of your max vision distance or 2 blocks? I wish there were numbers like in an rpg or anything that could indicate something. A reason why I don't use any scopes expect iron sights and red dots is that there are no specific numbers.
