I never build the lower end crates, so I don't know what their limit is...
I'm not sure but I may have moved them instead of building them in place (then the game would treat them as prebuilt items instead of player built). Will try later tonigth and update accordingly.
No mods, so that is vanilla game.
I've made the test as announced. When I take and replace a small bookcase it gets from 65 to 26 capacity (with organized).
It may not be the same issue as with crates but I wanted to get the info out there.
It's probably a UI bug. I've seen that happen when switching from one container to a new one. The storage capacity won't update. It still holds the correct amount, it just displays the previous containers storage capacity.
Nope, they are limited at those lower value (I've placed books in them and it stops at 52 books for the small bookshelf and 64 books for the large bookshelf).
I was curious as to why, so I moved one of the small bookshelf that had a 65 weight limit and it droped down to 26. (with organized)
Damn...how are you guys staying alive long enough to get carpentry lvl 10 :D
I got the fever ...grrrr...so starting fresh again! The joys of permadeath ;)
In my case it comes from easy sandbox settings... others may be more good then me... I also build a base in a spot where zombies can't reach me.
Just in case you don't know... you can start another character on the same save once you die. Time to take a few sleeping pils (or drink bleach).
I then read the associated skill book for maximum multiplier. (every 2 levels)
Then I start sawing logs until my skill is up high enough to start building other things. Log walls are the first built thing I use to increase carpentry. Then I start building walls and such when I get higher skills.
After that I moved on to making floors... after making a full second floor for my base I was way past level 10.
Here's the result :

If you're wondering how I managed to pile up that much sawed log until I reached stair level, here's how I do it :

How do I do this exactly? That would make it so much easier restarting...I didnt know that was possible. Im also experiencing horrible lag anytime I try to craft...I read the IWBUMS release boosts performance so going to try that out. I havent played a sandbox game yet, always just start at the "inital infection 1 week in" mode. Thanks for the links going to have a look at them now! :)
Once you die, you can choose to start another character right then (I think)... or at the very least you can select your save game from the start menu to allow you to create a new character. It will be the same world, in the same state (even with your zombie former self roaming around).
For your lag issue, does it help to use "speed up time" (F4, F5 or higher)?
1) To hang a sheetrope you need 1 section per floor (ground level or "0" count as one... so the real second story need 2). Then you need a hammer and a nail. Right click on windows/fence and select "add sheetrope". There is a slight bug where if you put nearby sheetrope in the wrong order you can't put more nearby (but don't worry about that for now).
2) First they need to be empty (like all containers) before they can be moved. Then there is an icon to the upper left of the screen to move (or place or rotate) furniture. I beleive it's the lowest of them (just hover your mouse on it). Fridges are heavy (30 weight unit) so you need to have a relatively clear inventory first. You can use the same trick as my wood guide (equiping secondary/primary) to reduce their weight by 60%. Doing that (including a temporary drop on the ground) you can manage to carry 3 at the same time (yeah... one fridge in each hand and one in your pocket... that's pretty realistic!)
