Mondoid from 4 months ago: http://projectzomboid.com/blog/2016/02/dark-places/
The end talks about changes to the map loading and improval of map height limits and then shows a video of a player entering a basement :)
So since basements are tricky, does this also mean that my idea of digginng moats is basically "no way" and "not going to happen" territory?
ive seen some bases on multiplayer, where dirt is dug up all around the main base (with a narrow bridge plus a set of 2 heavy doors), and either water is put there or spike logs :)
EDIT - sorry i was bouncing between 7 days to die forums and here - my mistake about moats...
As my earlier post stated, basements are on their way and appear to be linked to the release of creative mode. The "tricky" part was based on how the map loads but this is changing with creative according to the recent mondoid I linked above (and below).
So while I've never heard of any talk about moats, I would hope they would give us a way to at least build downward once the z levels exist. I wouldn't call it a "no way" but it would be something farther down the line I'm sure. Building/digging downward is one thing but adding water to that mix might be harder to implement in a clean way that works for the vanilla game.
In all honesty, if there was a mod that let you create water tiles (with a shovel and bucket of water or something) that would be enough for me :) The only thing is that those placed tiles would have to be unfishable, for obvious reasons :P lol
Edit: Here's a direct link to the basements WIP video to save people effort and show that they are being worked on and are on the way along with creative mode.
