The most storage capcity in one tile
Seems like the most storage you can get is 150 units by stacking 3 crates on top of each other.

Is that the best space? Or a bunch of bookcases/shelves on top of each other?

I am pretty sure I have stacked 4 crates in my base...

--You can't stack bookshelves and shelves. Only crates. But yeah, from what I know, the max is three.

Also, your max storage space is 105 with disorganized, 150 with the base traits, and 195 with organized!

No, its 4 as I said.
The only mod I have is one that adds recipes, nothing to do with stacking.

Not really, i joined a mp game, and the crates where displaced, its more like a bug, a room is made for 3, nothing in the change logs states that it was changed.
Anyway i would be happy if iam wrong, but i doubt it....

Probably a bug at this location, since the roof is only 'visible', you cannot actually walk on it. (Its how I fractured my leg.) I imagine locations with a higher roof will allow more as well.
I am at the hunting lodge in the main entry. And I can actually add another crate on top the 4 stack, which I did not do because it would ruin the visibility of the doorway.

Here is outside, so apparently, the highest you can go is 6.

The most storage capacity in one tile is : 50x10 (500) garbage bags or empty sandbags...

Each of those as a base value of 20 (or 26 with organized). This mean a potential 10 000 or 13 000 capacity (same as your inventory btw, see my guides or challenge... I'm up to 4700+)

Granted the shear number of bags to go through will deter most, and the working inventory will be less ;) But there is no reason why you should not get 10 or so of those (maybe more depending on you screen resolution), meaning 200 or 260+.

(edit : short of if... drop bags on the ground then fill them up)

Thanks for the info. I'll stick with the 3 crate stack since working space is 50. I hate to have to open multiple garbage bags hunting for my stuff.

i think there was a mod (or 2 mods) that allowed containers to be accessed directly from the ground. maybe having each bag named with alphabetical groups could help to quickly locate things.

(ive got tons of mods active and need to find out which ones are conflicting and actually stopping the containers from being accessed on the ground anymore, but once i find out i can try that too)

That's a good idea, but make sure you don't name it exactly as objects (add an extra character... such as sweet roman numerals :D) or it will merge in the stack of item when you look at them from your inventory (whenever you pick-up a bag or put an item directly on the floor).

Edit : When you do try it, make sure you drop the bags before filling them, otherwise it won't work.

Okay. So in multiplayer (no mods) i noticed i can stack up to 4. even 5 i think.
RonEmpire Jun 29, 2016 @ 11:20pm
it might be related to your carpentry skill as far as how many you can stack
Oblivion Jul 1, 2016 @ 9:32am
You can fill up a crate, then destroy it with a sledgehammer, and all the loot will drop to the floor, ignoring the weight limit on the tile, allowing you to have infinite items on a tile if you just keep doing that over and over.

What I did was pickupcrate warehouse. And then I'd stack them on top of each other on the second floor. I've managed to stack 5 crates. could go even higher. What's weird is that the second floor doesn't have more than 4 stacks high. So that 5th crare inviisbly go past the roof but nothing on the top floor comes through.
