Microwaves and buckets FIRE
Is this new? If this has been covered somewhere please provide me a link or direct me to the discussion. I have been using microwaves sterilize rainwater for ages. I always use blue plastic buckets that I have set outside
to collect rainwater and microwave them. I usually do this just so that I can fill a water dispenser in my kitchen. Well I was on the road for a while and when I return to my base after several updates. I went about my usual routine of unloading and restocking. One of my tasks of course was to fill the water cooler or whatever you want to call it. I microwaved two blue plastic buckets as I usually do. Then I dump them in the water cooler and get two more from outside. I put two in and returned inside....to watch the microwave explode into flames. I don't have any experience with putting out fires in the game so it was done with me not just to hit pause and look it up but even then... fire? Inside the base? Even with the fire extinguisher and the fact that there were two buckets of water inside the microwave when it exploded did nothing to keep me and the base from burning. I thought maybe there was a chance that a microwave could be defective. So I repeated the process of microwaving plastic buckets as soon as I could get set up. It immediately exploded into flames and started burning the parking lot that I had set it in to be safe. The parking lot was outside my base and the flames just kept spreading across the asphalt. Now being educated on how to put out fires I still didn't have much of a chance. Even armed with two fire extinguishers. The fire spread to my vehicles and my base and to me. Again.... From microwaving two plastic buckets with a totally different microwave. And yeah it exploded within 10 seconds. Is this because they are taking into account the metal handle on the bucket with new updates? I've never seen this happen before. In fact I've let the microwave just run while I've done other tasks and come back to gather the water. They ain't going to be happening anymore. 10 seconds and boom. Your base is on fire and I don't see any other posts about this searching online. It's new to me. Is it new to you or have you experienced this? I don't mind switching to empty bleach jugs or something like that but I want to know before I do that that I'm not going to have another fire on my hand for no reason. Unless there's a reason...... Is it the wire handles? If you're going to try an experiment I would suggest you do it in a very safe place. I don't know where that would be. Let me know what you know or what you find out.... if you make it out alive

If you are on unstable

-Replaced the bucket world static model textures with metal icons and textures and not plastic ones, as buckets are now metal and not plastic.

- Added "HasMetal" tag for items. This tag was added to food and water items in metal containers, which will now set microwaves on fire when microwaved.

Thanks..... I (vaguely) remember something about that in the updates notes or accompanying video, I guess my long road trip and being away from my base (microwaves and bucket behavior) made it slip completely from my mind. I guess i read it as "metal buckets added to game" not "Hey, dimwit.....don't assume your buckets are still plastic and safe for the microwave when you return home.". Thank you for the info (since I seem to be actually "taking it in" this time) and kind/quick response. I guess I learned how to burn my base down with buckets of water. I won't do that anymore. Thx tons Puppers!
I'd respond to "that guy". But I think I have made this response long enough to where he didn't read it. Like, me skimming over new Zomboid release notes concerning changes about plastic buckets now being metal.
