You need to sew them shut with needle and thread. You could also just bandage them, but the bandage gets dirty immediately and takes a long time to heal because of infection. Although that's not necessarily a huge deal. You also need to remove glass first, if there's some stuck in there.

Can you use sewing needle and thread or does it have to be Suture Needle? I also haven't had to stitch up since the addition of the suture needle clamp. Do I need that in addition? Is Suture Needle expendable or is it like Sewing?

Sewing needle will work in a pinch, but suture needle (optionally with holder) is the ideal tool. Thread is always needed to do the job, and is the only expended item.

Does the clamp increase healing factor or anything?

Deep wound needs stitches.
Needle and thread

What clamp? Is that a mod thing? Using a suture needle means less pain and for a shorter time, but since even with a regular needle it's pretty brief I don't really worry about it. Same thing with removing glass manually from a wound or using tweezers.

There was a suture needle holder at one point. Did they do away with that recently?

You don't NEED to stitch a deep wound, but it takes significantly longer to heal without stitching it.
Several weeks, IIRC.

I think that just has a suture needle inside it, like a container.

Oh yeah I think I've seen suture needle holders. Sound familiar anyway, unlike clamps heh... With this game you can never really know. I think deep wounds will heal on their own a bit faster than weeks, but I haven't had direct experience on that recently so can't say for sure. They definitely do take a lot longer than without stitching. If for whatever reason you want to level first aid, walking on broken glass and then treating it is the way to go.

Yup, same thing. I'm not a doctor, but that icon definitely looks familiar. :steamfacepalm:

Earlier I found an ambulance with some kind of portable blood bag thingy in the trunk, hadn't seen those before. Not sure if it's something genuinely new or if I just hadn't encountered it previously. Doesn't seem to actually do anything though.

That would be super f#@king handy tho, if you were bleeding out a lacerated neck and got down to very last bit before the bandage animation finshed! :steamfacepalm:

Funny I would come across this topic OP.

I just finished uploading a video to my YT channel, and I found out the hard way to keep a close eye on your gear. I neglected to repair my boots, and I walked over broken glass only to have glass embed itself into both of my feet causing deep wounds, and major bleeding.

I pretty much show how to clear the glass from your wounds, and stitch the wound shut, and how to keep care of them.

I don't want to post my video. Last time I did that I was banned by devs for another game. Just know I just finished uploading it so it should show up if the filter is set to today.

Great fun. This game is really incredible.

Yeah I am always a little paranoid about boot durability. I always check it after stomping some corpses out.
