Is it worth sawing off the js shotgun?
So recently i noticed that you can saw off the barrel on the js shotgun, i checked the wiki for stats and it seems like it does perform better (apart from slightly more noise) but im still scared that there are un-noted side effects of it, thoughts?

sawed off js2000 has 1 less tile range, and 50 tile more sound range but weighs 0.5 less.

there is 0 benefit for sawing down the double barrel
it just has 1 less tile range, no sound range or weight difference.

If you're fine with the trade off then it's worth it. Most times I prefer to slap a sling onto a shotgun instead so I can keep the range.

Pretty sure the main benefit is that you can holster it and it doesn't have to be on your back or in a rifle holster, kinda sucks that you cant one hand it though

isnt the main reason to do it the wider spread?

Yes it is worth it.

But I would damage the shotgun by at least 30 or 40% before doing it.

You experience weight reduction so if you are a weakling then it may be more suitable entirely to have it sawn off.

The way I see it though is the sawn off is what I wanna do on the field when my shotgun is dying. So I usually have a saw in the car or the bag if I am strong enough

yeah but there arent many cases on why you would need that, and the extra noise just isnt worth imo

yeah not worth it. the aggro range without sawing off is already enough.

I like to saw them down if weight is an issue, but that's it. There's a couple of mods that "fix" the sawn-offs.

There instance where you might need the cell spread over the range does exist. And I have played poor shooting or slow learners, who benefit more from having the initial combat boost the cell spread gives. But a normal shooter of fair strength should not need to sawnoff for any reason other than preference. At higher aiming I find the sawn off is worse than the default unsawn shotguns. Because ultimately it’s a less safe to use weapon.

For most shooters even after a while, a shotgun is less safe than many of the pistols. A rifle in fact can be so safe that you can fire at a zombie and it doesn’t know where you are.

A firearm is only as safe as you make it. The lil' revolver is quieter.

If it’s a horde of 15, and you had a 9mm you could have killed them at optimal range at suitable aiming skill. And you would receive no blood splat and were maintaining a fair out of grab and bite distance. But the same horde of 15 to a shotgun, you will kill them all on a JS with 6 or 7 shells, with one reload. The reload is important because it’s time consuming. And it means that they get closer while you’re doing. You had to change position: Additionally the range of shotgun JS, not double barrel, is nearly always in splat range at optimal.

So you have to clean the shotgun a lot aswell.

Blood doesn't do much besides increase the chance of wound infection or anxiety.
