Generator fuel consumption
The total fuel usage for generators is higher than it should be as far as I'm aware.

Example 1:
Generator at house 1 is hooked up to a fridge, a mini fridge and a popsicle freezer. According to the generator info window, both the fridge and mini fridge should consume 0.13 L/h each and the popsicle freezer 0.16 L/h, adding up to 0.42 L/h. Yet, the total consumption is stated to be 0.44 L/h.

Example 2:
Generator at house 2 is hooked up to one normal fridge and 5 popsicle freezers. According to the generator info window, the 5 popsicle freezers should consume 0.8 L/h and the normal fridge 0.13 L/h, adding up to 0.93 L/h. Yet, the total usage is stated to be a whopping 3.83 L/h and it's not just a display thing, the fuel level actually drops fast enough.

Is there a bug here or am I missing some part of the mechanics?

i'm a bit confused on the first one
(.13*2) + .16 = .42, not sure how you got 0.39 but it obviously isn't 0.44 either
the second one sounds crazy though

yeah sorry, I miscalculated. I'll edit and fix it.

Seems like there's a bug somewhere. The funny thing is that even the example of the generator info screen on the PZ wiki has the same issue. It displays consumption that adds up to 0.848, but the total shows as 1L/h.

Actually!
There are a few things that DO NOT show up in the generator info as consumption, yet they do consume energy. (I did not have time to test them out since a few updates, so these are infos from 41.6 and before)
If i recall well one of them being the radio. If you have a normal radio that has batteries, for some reason it will increase your generator consumption and it will also drain the battery if you turn it on.
Another thing if i recall well is the electric oven? (Not sure though!)
The lights can also increase the consumption if i recall well any light source you activate should increase the consumption by 0.005 or so.
Beside the ones that are outside on the street, as those give higher numbers. (Yes if you have a lamp post outside within the genny range you can light up the street.)

There is no radio in that house of example 2, it was empty and marked for sale. Lights are off. There's just a stove I put there a while ago but it's not on.
In any case, I don't see how it could explain such a big difference.

More than a year later and this still hasn't been fixed. Disappointing.

What if the generator supplied power to objects inside other houses, without you knowing?

isnt the generator info a mod? im pretty sure its rather a mod issue then a game issue

Oh hey, the wiki does actually state that having multiple fridges/freezers cause the generator to consume more fuel than normal. Whoops.

Negative. It is indeed part of vanilla.

Not sure if this helps anything or not but the generator can also run street lights and other things without you knowing.

Actually you did not provide much to go on. So how could anyone even understand what the issue is?

You did not provide adequate details. You could have marked the buildings on the pz map, so folks can have a look at them (on the map or visiting it in game). You could also have provided screenshots, from various angles, so we can discover if there is perhaps something draining your energy you might have not noticed?
Because what you wrote is not really much to go on, neither for us other players, and definetly not enough for the devs. Not to mention you did not even go into the most important detail, whether your game is modded or not?

edit: ahhhh i found it, its just the time remaining, not what gets used up.

This confuses me too. my generators go through about 1-2% of gas per day if they are running all day. 14 lights, 3 fridge/freezers, TV. Mine has never gone as high as yours

thats not the default options, cause on default its with only one freezer and 7 lights a 16 day lasting generator, meaning it takes a bit more then 5% for way less then you power.

either you changed the option in the sandbox setting and forgot about it, or you play on a lower default difficulty then me and its changed there by default to lower
