Generator Fuel and Condition
WIll generators consume fuel and lose condition if I move far away from them.

Let's say I connect a generator in Rosewood and leave it running. Then I make a new character and play in Muldraugh. Will that generator eventually break or running out of gas?

Yeah that is false. Regardless of how far away you get, generators will continue run. Also no, you can't do what you are asking. Any generator that is running will just continue to run while you are gone. I do think that, depending on how much stuff you have running on it, you should be able to get at least a couple of days out of your gens though.

Death is right, they just keep running...apologies for the misinformation.

Yes.

I recall someone saying otherwise elsewhere. Can't remember where though. But the gist is that the generator fuel consumption will be halted if you are far away. Just like how frozen food will remain fresh for months as long as you don't enter the cell it's in.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

First time I've ever heard of either of those things. Doesn't make sense when you think of it because in multiplayer generators running because of a player who left would run forever.

The server pauses when nobody is on it.

Depends on the setting. Some do, some don't. Because it would muck up servers that don't pause I'm sceptical. And there's still the matter of the player who set it up leaving but other players being online wondering what the deal is with the magic infinite generator. But I'm sure someone else will weigh in soon enough.

I think if I were to drop a gen and start it, then leave the server while others are still on...the gen just keeps running until it's out of gas...unless someone turns it off.

Yup, exactly what I've been saying.

But this is SP though. Not sure if the same rule applies. But well, according to the other answer, it seems the rule applies.

I'll just check it out later since I'm already doing what I asked.

No.
The same rule cannot aply, if you are playing single player, because there is no server. (unless you make a multiplayer server and play by yourself, but then it is still multi just solo.)
In single player, no matter where you are, the time will pass. So frozen food will eventually deteriorate, the generator runs out gas, or might break and burn down your house and so on. Even light bulbs can explode while you are not at home. (If you moved a lamp)

Ah I was confident about it still running in multiplayer for the reason I mentioned, but as I didn't have a ton of experience with single player wasn't 100 percent on that one. Good to hear it's the same. Looks like "some guy I heard from" isn't that reliable a source, heh.
