Fortified food market west point
So I'm having a blessed game day five with rare everything and I have 8 generators, tons of guns and ammo from a lot of meta event's despite me leaving them on the default setting. Just gone to the food market / hardware store in west point to fit it's a boarded up survivor house got a ton of loot my second sledgehammer.

Would make a nice base but I've already set up at the large warehouse near the gas station so won't be using it, also got a large trailer and a near mint condition panel van, not to mention two day one meta events giving me two large backpacks and three hiking backpacks.

The apartments over the food market nearly got me though as one of the survivors was dead but reanimated after I walked past and started looting. He was already dead when I entered the room so wasn't expecting him to come back to life and he go a back attack on me but I was saved from the bite by a silly scarf of all things.

Honestly think this run is blessed as it's been sooooooo good so far and honestly as it's my first west point character to make it past day three I think he deserves some luck.

Ok so I just found 2 sledgehammers in the same crate in the post office attached to the hardware store, giving me 4 sledgehammers. My longest survivor is a rosewood character that has survived over 2 months as is still going but still hasn't found a sledgehammer. I still have found the generator mag yet but here's hoping it's in here somewhere.

Just found a ton of guns in here too it seems the entire building is counting as a massive survivor house and thus getting crazy good loot everywhere. Now I have to be extra careful with character as I don't want them to die.

That's hands down my favourite base location. And it is great when it starts of barricaded., because as you noticed when it is, the whole block gets that treatment and the associated loot. Gives you a pretty nice head start! Once I found TWO kantanas there. That made for a fun run, but I was still a bit of a novice so I didn't realize I should level up my maitenance before I used them, so I kind of wasted them. Now I save them till I get to level five so they last longer.

Another great thing about that for a base? It's got that hotel right across the street, which is great for grinding metalworking and carpentry. Lots of bathtubs and beds to disassemble.

I made the gas station and warehouse my base fully walled in where needed the gas station, burger joint, warehouse and the self storage. Wall goes as far down as the road so I have tons of room coming on 2 months in just got a antique stove and some more supplies. Finally found a how to use generators today as well as first aid book 5 so now I have all the books.

Even cleared the roads as best as possible as I needed to make 4 trips to McCoy Logging to get enough wood for the walls that's even bundling them up in sets of 4 and bagging them in at worst duffel bags. Took my character the best part of a week to do, but it's practically zed free and with my main base being in the middle of the compound there's never any issue with zeds although I had a scare when one from the main road had followed me back and decided to wait right up against the gate for me to open it.

Only found 1 katana so far actually at a wedding at the church in the bottom left of west point sticking out of what was clearly the groom so someone had a bad wedding day. Just grinding electrical, so far it's been super fun and I'm readying myself for a trip to Louisville.

Any tips as getting deeper into west point is already pretty tough just due to how many zombies are there now it's past day 30 at they are at max density and from what I've seen Louisville is going to be 10X worse.

My favorite place in Westpoint is the town hall. Because its close to all the shopping centres.

There are two sets of stairs to destroy/barricade. Once you're on the 2nd floor you can build a 4 tile bridge over to the cafe south east of there and have your outdoor growing and water collecting area. There is one window from the offices next door that could be used by zombies, but its unlikely a big group would path through the offices unless someone attracted them there - and if you're really worried about that, just destroy the stairs in the office building.

On the opposite end of town I use the school too. Because I don't have enough stamina to sprint across the whole town, so having a couple safe areas is handy.

It also has 2 sets of stairs to deal with, but it already has access to an outdoor growing/water collecting area. Most of the skill books you'll need will be in their library, so not much lugging those around. You'll find a lot of seeds in the houses north west of there. You can also have a short trip to the river for fishing.

I like to setup alarm clocks and wristwatch alarms in the large downstairs rooms of both buildings, to get zombies clustering in the corners. If a big group happens to be following me then I just sprint through there and they get gummed up in tables and desks. Can thin the hordes out a few at a time if they're stuck indoors. Small buildings are claustrophobic for me, nowhere to run and they aren't large enough to really make zombies forget what they were chasing. But the school and town hall have big hallways - even if there is a horde in there, you can run through without getting cornered.

The school sounds fun, right now looking at the map I've walled in an area about 3 times the size of the school so I'm not short of space, I personally prefer to have a single base and operate from it, taking what I need for basic survival with me in label backpacks in my van or it's trailer. Also I've never destroyed stairs just barricaded them so I can use them if needs be.

I like to build a walled compound with the walls far enough away from the main building that zombies are a non issue, the only time I end up exposed is opening the gates or when I'm out looting. I have so much loot already at my base that I'm going to need to spend a few days organising it all just hit up the March Ridge video store to get myself some learning tapes.

I will try experimenting with watches and alarm clock I collect the clock but instantly disassemble the watches for exp and to stop any alarms.

i just started a new run today and i decided to spawn in west point for the first time because of the hardware and gun stores. but when i went to the hardware store i found it boarded up with alot of good weapons, sadly no katanas, and found a sledge hammer. went to the gas station across the street and saw some bandits i assume with decent loot. i wish i started going to west point sooner because of my amazing luck.
