i'm not on the floor below is my point, i am standing on the very top step of the stairs so i would be more considered upstairs than downstairs, although somewhere in between
there is no reason why when i am stood on the very top step (which is at the exact same height as the floor in question) i for some reason cannot see anything that is one foot directly in front of me.
if you have stairs in your house, go and stand on the very top step of the stairs. can you see what is at the top of the stairs or does your vision go black?
as for loitering on the stairs, that is the exact thing that i don't do because of what i have been highlighting. unfortunately though, sometimes you have to go upstairs in this game
in terms of the games programming yeah maybe i am not. nevertheless i should still be able to see whats up there. if your friend was standing at the top of the stairs you would be able to see him from the bottom, or the middle. i dont know what is so hard to understand.
this is precisely what has hurt or killed me the most in this game
I do agree that the moment you are about to go up is the most dangerous one, regardless of whether there are some tricks to mitigate it.
In that moment, your head appears popping up even if your Z coordinate is 0.99.
Maybe once you reach that point there could be a way to do a smoother transition graphically / switch the view to the top floor with some sort of partial / faded view of the below floor.
You can make do as it is, but that would be nice to have.
It is best to try to get their attention from below, in case one was about to go down, or right on top of the stairs in a position ready to grab you.
Although I tend to go up as you said, but I have keen hearing so I know if there are zombies nearby.
then only 1-2 zeds can be stuck on the stair railing, if you unlucky.
then just poke in and back up in combat stance to lure them down.
(correcting their pathfinding down)
be cautious about your overheat,overencumberance/clothing and exhaustion
cause that can cripple your combat stance speed immensly.
and thats how you died.
And also drowsiness, which at max level gives you a marvelous -95% damage inflicted (and -50% at the first).
