If you have mods enabled , disable them and see if it solves the problem.
Fill yes but don't drink.
I have no mods installed.
Will try other bottles again.
But it looks like you should disinfect bottles in the microwave beforehand. That's what it says on the bottles. Only that makes no sense.
If I have a new previously closed bottle of orange juice and I drink it empty, why can't I drink water from it like I did before the update?
Maybe the setting got changed in the menu? By default you drink from water bottles in your inventory automatically, so they do not have the option, unless you checked it manually.
I do have a few mods installed, but the only one I can see that relates to water bottles is Authentic Z (it is supposed to allow water bottles to be attached to back packs, but I have not seen that feature work yet).
Everything that is not a water drink but a drink with values
which also contain food. You can drink these drinks even if you can't drink bottled water because it also adds food value.
I can currently clean water on the campfire and grill
with a big pot.
However puting the bottles on microwave and heating it up for lengthy time spams does nothing to remove the "Contents can only be purified on a microwave" status.
Now, I can't be certain of this, but I think it started to apply to all empty water bottles AFTER I acquired an empty bleach bottle.
I think that has something to do with the fact that since the new update you can fill the bottles with gasoline.
update 41.73
- Allow empty bottles to store gasoline.
Maybe that only applies to bottles that actually contained gasoline.
But the description always comes.
it's this:
plastic bottles full of tainted water can only be purified in a microwave because otherwise they would melt
there is currently no mechanic for melting a plastic bottle - so all that happens if you try to purify a plastic bottle of water in a stove is that it won't purify
the tooltip for plastic water bottles has been changed to always say that the contents can only be purified in a microwave - but if you fill any bottle with tainted water, it will gain 2 red tooltips - 1 saying it's unsafe, and the other saying what it can be purified in (glass bottles say oven or fire, but that includes a microwave - plastic bottles specifically say microwave)
it's fine - it's normal
the only issues people may be encountering will likely either be to do with mods, or stuff from older saves - or possibly from misunderstandings
you can always drink liquids that have food content, since you are allowed to overeat - but the game does not let you over hydrate (although there's another possibility for a fun/dumb way to die lol)
Thank you for your detailed information. Perhaps it would be better if the description for a microwave is only there if there is dirty water in it.
Then all you need is a description. Please don't drink :)
A bottle of clean water shouldn't say anything except Cheers.
So...just to confirm, all this means that we now can't drink from a bottle of soda if its emptied and then clean water is put in there WITHOUT purifying it for some reason? Cause a bit of sugar from the soda isn't going to make the water tainted. That's just kind of dumb. Also a balance issue.
