What's up with xp gains in this game?
Nimble is notoriously difficult to level up due to absolutely garbage gains even at 125% bonus due to some sort of rng mechanic being the determining factor if and when you get xp for the skill.

Sprinting seems about the same, with the xp being doled out at seemingly very random intervals.

Reloading seems to hit some sort of soft cap @ rank 5 after which the gains become so hilariously pitiful there's no real hope of ever hitting rank 6 or higher unless you putter around some safe location doing nothing but reloading your gone for weeks on end.

Aiming seems to follow similar trajectory though even at 100% bonus, hitting rank 5 seems to take a good while.

Only skills that seem to level up fairly expediently are the other two agility skills, sneaking and lightfooted but never gotten those above rank 4 so who really knows, they'll probably get soft capped @ 5 and becomes super slow to level up.

With higher ranks requiring thousands to tens of thousands points of xp, why do some skills get artificially slowed down seemingly just because?

Maybe i am just missing something and should be just getting some mods to fix the xp gains (are there any that are up to date?) to avoid the frustration of hitting random caps and seeing no noticeable gains after several in game days of doing a thing.. :d2tidehunter:

There's no soft cap, just after level 4 it goes up at a rate of 1500 more exp required per level (level 10 requires 9000 iirc). It requires progressively large amounts more to get each successive level, but your exp rate doesn't increase.

It would certainly help if there were books to speed up all the skills, rather than just the crafting/survivalist ones.
I guess certain skills may get way harder to get leveled based on your stats/nutrients... such sprinting getting stuck because you dont have enough calories to burn... Maybe this gets applied to others (I did not research much about it tbh)

There are some cool mods that help you out with that.
I personally consider them to be "Mandatory" as leveling without them can be extremely time consuming.

I recommend this to anyone who played the game hundreds of times and wants a "Sped up" experience.

There is also xp multiplier setting in the sandbox settings. I suggest increasing it if you want to increase the XP gain.

In the upcoming update, I believe this is going to be addressed.

if there is no cap and the required amounts just go up, why did my xp per tick for reloading drop to 20% of the amount at lvl 4 when i hit lvl 5? Not only did the required xp for next lvl double, but my xp gained is so low that its almost impossible to hit the next lvl

necro because exact same problem, there seems to be an artificial xp cap that i cant find any mention of elsewhere. even after setting xp multiplier to 5x it would take irl weeks of nonstop reloading to level up again

I was going to say something snarky about necro but you actually make a good point so never mind, my bad. Anyway this is the first time I've heard of the 20 percent experience nerf. Oof. Is it a mod thing perhaps? Probably not since the base game is pretty savage with skills you can't read books for...

Reloading is an odd one.

Build 42 now comes with books for things like reloading, so there's that.

I just never had any desire to grind that skill. Maybe the early levels. But I wouldn't spend extra time maxing out that skill. I'll take the gains when I need to reload. But if I spend several hours grinding the skill, and it only takes 10 minutes to fire off every round in existence, did making my reload times faster actually save me any time? Not really. And now it only took me five minutes to fire off every round in the game, meaning less time to enjoy my skills in action.

I guess slow reloading is just my way of savouring the moment.

I normally wouldnt either but my character is severely wounded so I am just trying to use the recovery time effectively since i have day length doubled which also doubles the time of everything else i found out rather quickly. reloading was just a way of passing the time and then i noticed this issue.

I could see that being a good use of downtime. And I also play 2 hour days, especially now in build 42 I recommend it. The map is larger. You have more time to explore. Spend more time getting things done and less time living the same short day over and over, cleaning manure from the chicken coop.
