Chopper pilot mentality
*Chopper flying over Muldraugh*

Co-pilot: "Hey, look! A survivor!"

Pilot: "Let's go check it out."

Co-pilot: "Hmmm, we seem to be making a lot of noise and attracting zombies from all over town, maybe we should leave, give this poor guy a chance."

Pilot: "No way! Look at him run around, trying to avoid them but drawing more in the process! This is hilarious, hand me the popcorn!"

I am the only one who thinks that the helicopter event should bring any benefit? I mean, i enjoy killing the hordes attracted by the helicopter, it's a great event to make the game more difficulty but for God sake, the helicopter should crash and we should be able to loot something in the helicopter. Of course there should be a chance of the helicopter exploding after crashing and this should cause a giant fire which would add more difficulty and would be nice too. Come on devs, the helicopter event has been the same for a LONG time, it's time to make some changes.

If the helicopter would crash it would be destroyed because it's a flying fuel-bomb - especially military one that has ammo and explosives on board.

You already said that in another thread, didn't you? You think i don't know how that would work? That's why i said that the helicopter should have a chance of blowing up and a chance of not blowing up, not every helicopter explodes after crashing. Most of the helicopter parts would be destroyedl, it will be like crumpled metal but not every helicopter blow up like a bomb after crashing. So in this cases i think we should have a chance to find something there, maybe food, ammo, weapons, any kind of useful supplies. Anyway that's just a suggestion, i don't expect everyone to agree with me and i enjoy to see people sharing their thoughts about suggestions that can be implemented in the game. And anyways it's always up to the devs, they will add what they want based or not in what the community wants.

What if the chopper shot at the Zs?
Or the chopper could drop off commandos to combat the Z?s

I know that the army will be hostile to any survivors, but at the very lest it would cause
a great distraction, and you could loot the dead afterwards.

Choppers are full of electronics (its no 50s or 60s after all) which upon crashing is a guarantee to be riped open producing sparking, choppers also carry 600-1500 liters of fuel and both it tanks and fuel lines will be broken open a fire is 100% guarantee - that's why airfields have firefigter regiments on stand-by 24/7. It's a crash for Pete's sake not crash-landing.

Crash-landing on the other side - like you've said 50-50 but...

Only thing im against here is fire, because fire - it's 100% game killer right now.

Having more things to loot is ok, but it should be a landed chopper without fuel - abandoned with maybe some supplies left behind, that would be fine.

But everything that causes or may cause fire, no thanks. Once i've burned down half of the friggin West Point. (before you ask - molotov use and right after that chopper showed...)

Military aid - devs have spoken - is a no-no so my guess is that intervention is somehow clasified as aid...

As long as it could be turned off in sandbox might be ok.
@Cool Beans: I'm not against fire, since i think the helicopters should crash in the woods. A landed chopper sounds like a good idea too. Maybe better than crash sites, but i don't think they implement both of our ideas.

@Neon Wolf: No, the army should try to kill us, not the zeds.

maybe if the didnt spread, like a certain parameter for chopper fires, only like 2 tiles away
A chopper going down is not necessarily going to explode.

My brother is a heli-pilot. Ever heard of 'autorotation'? Do a google search.

its a form of controlled crashlanding, using the updraft winds to rotate and give the chopper lift, it s really hard to do say your secondary rotar and evelons fail

Tell your brother that he is a badass. Pilots are badass.

How the f i didn't remember this emergency landing maneuver... damn you! :D

But still this requires a pilot and a steering.

Why im picking on this is that Sergeant Giacomo in other post said pilot is being attacked by someone turining on board so my assumption is either pilot dies and crashes or he fights off the zambo but a little too late and crash lands heli.

Like i've said - im not against the event itself because events make the world ingame feel more alive, im against everything that involves or may cause fire. At this stage there is nothing worse then a fire.

This sounds like a good solution.

Edit:// Now i have an idea about chopper event but it's not the right time to post it.
