There are in-game stairs oriented in directions we cannot place our built stairs in.
They'd only work on the ground floor. When on the second floor you wouldn't be able to tell there are stairs there.
This is what they'd look like on the ground:

As for 'not telling there were stairs there', I could really care less since it would be 'me' placing the stairs. I would know there were stairs there. Those two off-limit orientations are one of the things that really bug me in the game. Don't get me wrong, I still play the hell out of the game with almost 1000 hours sunk into it, its still my most played game in my entire library. And kudo's go to the developers for their awesome work on all the improvements to the game they have made in the last few years. I bought the game at full price, because I thought it was worth that, and more. Its really an awesome game!
Other bug me items, read if you must: Little issues, hardly worth mentioning.
The game really needs international localization that can be customized by the player. The date format was added, but only after I showed the code changes necessary for that change.
1. Display of metric fish sizes, when in Kentucky, pounds and inches are used. I have no idea what 12 cm is or 6 kg on the fly. Just a second, let me break out my conversion program...
2. Mohijo?! (that chocolate marshmallow) Probably not even sold in Kentucky, it should be called "Fudge" since that is predominately sold in the US, especially in mall shops.
3. Eyes Makeup. I am pretty sure its called 'Eye Makeup'. Probably should be changed to 'Makeup Kit' or something of the like, since all the women I know don't just have eye makup. There is foundation, blush, etc., and it comes in a kit.
4. The music and sound effects that don't make me feel like I am in Kentucky. When walking or running on grass, it sounds like somebody is hammering a new roof on their house down the street from me. The music is nice but has no relation to Kentucky. As it is, this cannot even be changed/modded by the player because its all in an encrypted sound file.
If the game is set in Kentucky, I should feel like I am really in Kentucky when playing, not somewhere else. As is, I just imagine myself in some European country where I am trying to survive the zombie hoards. Still, an engaging and fun experience.
