[FIXED] World Version is 0
pretty sure i just lost my world save from this most recent update which is a great shame cuz this was my best run so far :(

lived for over a month, hundreds of zombies killed, a base getting built up, walls, enough supplies to last a long time, gone :/

EDIT
[FIXED]

Thank goodness i found some 10 month old thread detailing the same issue.
If your save file says "World version is 0" and the play button is grayed out and unplayable, here's how to fix it.

1. create a new save with the same map you used (world name does not matter, character does not matter) (i played in the base game's map, started in west point so i chose westpoint again just in case.)

2. close the game and then open up your PC's file directory and locate the zomboid save folder
for me it was
C:\Users\computer name\Zomboid\saves

3. choose which map you used, multiplayer or solo, my folder is called apocolypse because i play the apocolypse difficulty.

4. Open the folder of the NEW SAVE you just made and scroll all the way down until you find the file map_ver.bin drag that out to your desktop for a second.

5. go back and find your other save file (The corrupted one) open up the file and drop the map_ver.bin file into that folder, when prompted about replacing the file, say yes. and you're done!

6. close the file directory, boot up PZ and continue surviving!

i was just playing on the world hours ago, i leave for a few hours, come back, install an update just now, boot up game, world is now somehow corrupted. says my world number is set to 0. there's a backup save of the world but that back up is a week old and since then i've done too much to make it worth it to just start from the back up

I have a fix for you go to your save file user>zomboid>saves>(or navigate to solo world)multiplayer>(your world save not player save)>scroll down and look for the Map_T.bin and delete the file. WARNING: this will most likley reset your zombie spawns (lots more zombies) AND more importantly: it will reset you back to the very first day (when the tv shows and water was still running) This isnt a super big thing as you can just go into setting and manually turn off water and electricity. Hope this helped

unfortunately it looks like it didn't work. the play button on the save is still grayed out and has a red text error message saying "Save file appears to be corrupt. world version is 0" appreciate the help nonetheless

My save game hang as well. What did that patch did to our save. Will a restart solve this problem?

My save can load but it will slow down in half an hour. I cannot even slow down my truck.

I did the proces as intended, only that my game got corrupted on my base, and when i did the thing all the things in my base disappeared. (mobiliary, stash, guns, food, companions). Afortunately my vehicles were just fine along with all the stuff inside of them, unlike my base stash.

Basically it overited my surrounded area but no other parts of the map in a range about 50-70 tildes around me.

So be carefull if you get this error nearby your base or important Buildings

could be some mods got in the way possibly. back when i had this error i don't think it had deleted any of the items in my cabinets and storage units. everything was pretty much the way i left it before the file corrupted. you may have just had an unfortunate bug that corrupted your loot and nearby storage

Necro'ing this to say that this worked for me, thank y'all, but also that when I loaded in a bunch of zombies had spawned all throughout my base. Just giving a heads up for anyone who will have to deal with this issue in the future.

ah i don't mind necro posting. it's helpful giving people heads up and tips if they too encounter the same issue as i did. glad to see it worked for you and yeah, think i recall the same thing happening. it doesn't save the area of zombies you've cleared previously so if your base is somewhere heavily infested previously, prepare yourself for when you boot the file back up.
