Same as cotton balls when you disinfect them. You essentially triple the weight of having a full bottle of disinfectant in your inventory or something, 10 cotton balls are 3kg but a bottle of disinfectant is 0.3kg but they can both disinfect the same amount of things. Alcohol wipes too, 0.3 weight but can only be used like 5 times instead of 10. I think I read somewhere once that the bottle of disinfectant isn't as good at healing infections as the other two, but one dose from the bottle has always been enough to remove infected wounds for me, so I dunno.
They really need to sort the medical items, changing weights and functions to make it less clear cut which ones are better etc. Maybe the whole system itself, too. At some point. Make First Aid great again.
There's a first for everything
Definitely would enjoy seeing medical get a major overhaul at some point though. Although it's already been like 8 years so maybe we won't be seeing one any time soon
rags are a lot worse than bandages unless you sterilize them, but if you're going to take the time to sterilize anything it might as well be real bandages, you will have an enormous number of them if you live long enough and they eternally renewable
the medical system is almost totally unneeded because unless you play non-infection settings you should never ever let zombies hit you, which means the only thing that can give you injury is stepping on glass, vaulting fences, car crashes, which are all terribly easy to avoid
the worst possible type of injury you can have is fractures, usually you get them from falling or rarely a car crash, which take an eternity to heal which is the only reason you might want to grind first aid
Its bad but not as game ending as people claim.
Burns are far more dangerous as your max HP is reduced 75%, you constantly get wound infections and suffer random extreme pain for the duration of the burn, which is weeks haha
