for a new player I would suggest going to a farm or something not too far away from town but enough to where there will not be a ton of zombies so you have easy access to loot the town but your base is isolated so hoards of zombies wont roam into your base so its easier to defend.

I personally suggest the farm in Riverside. It is a bit too close to the main roads but it is a solid place decently far away from the city itself but not a long travel.

Fire Station in Rosewood is a good place to start. You'll want to work on boarding up windows and making/getting storage crates just to make it feel like home.

There's a double warehouse due North of Rosewood which I like to use for my main base. Plenty of room to convert the buildings into living space, you can fence off the entire compound for safety, zombie spawn is very low (if any), there's a forest on your doorstep for wood and foraging, plenty of space for farming, and it's an easy drive from both Rosewood and Muldraugh.

yeah its a pretty good spot for long term survival as its pretty far away from any main roads and civilization so less zombie population in the area, two large buildings that possibly have electricity and a farmers market down the road for early game food and seeds

I'm a huge fan of the bar just on the edge of Muldraugh... Great size (I think it's just right), gas station is very close, storage warehouses nearby to loot... grass out front is a great size for personal farm.

I've tried other spots but I keep coming back to this one.

If you are in Muldraugh, the walled areas in the south. After you clear the houses it's unlikely you will be bothered, and you live very close to anything you need: books, gas, guns, food, fishes, etc.

WHERE: One of the two red houses circled.

WHEN: After you clear the entire walled perimeter.

HOW: Barricade all windows and doors, then build an extended catwalk on the second floor and use it to drop sheet ropes away from the doors and windows, to prevent zombies from destroying them.
