PZ's (Project Zomboid) gameplay is rather time-consuming as well, requiring careful controls when in a pinch not to be pinned down by zombies etc. I doubt any reasonably priced Android smartphone around 100 USD or so would be able to keep up with Project Zomboid, especially when driving a car and provide sufficiently large screen... assets constantly loading, unloading, etc.

Project Zomboid's team is comparatively small too, the game's still in Early Access and thankfully in very much active development.
It would be unsustainable to develop the game on two different platforms simultaneously after porting it over to mobile whilst there's still bigger and lower hanging fruits regarding the game's engine etc. I mean, they'd need a huge sales boost, probably increase the asking price, expand the team and expanding the team is potentially a risk to the game's vision and original team's inspiration, more departments to go through, more decision making rather than game-making and so on and so forth, if that makes any sense to you.

Although, assuming Steam Deck does even better in the future, sets a new performance standard, using Linux for OS becomes a common practice and Proton is further optimised to the point that it's maybe a few FPS difference with no stutters etc. Project Zomboid would do well on a handheld console.

it barely runs on PC and you'd have a hard time using the interface on mobile

11400 aint great, but even on my 12700F the game drops FPS if I zoom out too much, especially if it's raining. luckily the game runs well enough most of the time, just a few scenarios with bad moments

i5-11400, for gaming, it's pretty much an overkill, most games are still single-threaded and will continue to be single-threaded for some time, unfortunately . . . RimWorld.

It's beaten by i7's and i9's of its generation, certainly, but people often forget that CPU benchmarks are produced with cards like 3080's or RX 6900 XT's, cards of their tier would might be bottlenecked by an i5-11400 in some cases, but something like, realistically, RTX 2060 non-Super or RX 5700 non-XT, on average you'd be better off with a better GPU rather than a better CPU.

i5's at this point have caught up, and are enough for gaming, really, damn, i3's have caught up, speaking of Alder Lake and 12th gen.
I mean, just look at some of i3-12100F reviews, a lot of reviewers are very positive about it, and rightly so, Intel's done a fine job and is more competitive than ever thanks to AMD's rise.
Gamers are really overspending on CPU's these days, especially those playing in 1440p, and even more so in 4K where you won't be getting past 60 FPS too often, on High settings in particular, not without DLSS/FSR/XeSS. With not as many frames to be rendered, the CPU won't have that much more to do than one a tier below it. At most you'd be losing single-digits or maybe they'd be within margin of error, on average, in some cases a better CPU might render more frames, thanks to the higher frequency, larger cache and more threads if that specific game's optimised to take advantage of them, but again, on average you're better off with a better GPU instead.

With 8th. and 9th. generation, I ABSOLUTELY agree with you Haethei that an i5 and especially an i3 would be underpowered.
Well, 10th. gen wasn't exciting either for i3's and i5's, except for the i5-10600K, but it wasn't an average gamer CPU, realistically. Saved money by going with an i5-10400F would get you a higher tier GPU, and on average you'd have a superior system as opposed to say i5-10600KF with RTX 2060 vs i5-10400F with RTX 2060 Super.
