Secret Military Base Sucks?
I don’t know if we just got really bad luck or if the loot table just blows, but my buddy and I just spent the better part of 3 hours getting there and clearing it out to receive two M9s, a singular revolver, and two boxes of bullets.

I was under the impression that the armory of a military base would have at least the loot stock of a gun store, not a random desk in a police station

We looted pretty much everything we could see. I’m assuming the armory is the cabinet and two lockers down a hallway near-ish the front. Have we missed the main armory or something?

This is pretty well known I think, there are guides and things that say as much. The "secret" military base is more of a flavor thing than an actual useful one. If you want weapons look to the checkpoints outside of Louisville

It may be expanded in the future, if the devs ever add basements. The non-functioning elevator (in what appears to be a single-story building) and excessive power generators suggest that there's likely a very large underground part to the base.

Oh, we talking about that thing way off in the woods south west? Best thing I got there was a whole lot of military backpacks from the Army zeds stumblin' around.

I figured it was probably abandoned as part of a military pullout/mobilization, but it could just be unfinished too.

Ah, I didn’t know this was a well known thing. My buddy and I are relatively new. We just saw military base and assumed there would be military loot there. All the videos I’ve seen seemed to suggest there was some good loot here.

It's actually just a Lab the Military Occupied/Protected. Not a real proper Military Installation. They were just kinda there.

It's more of a Challenge area kinda like the Prison. Best loot you'll get is all the Military Outfits from the Zombies.

The loot is mainly from the Bodies. Military Clothes offer good protections and Military Bags are the biggest in the game

The theory I read is that it's a military blacksite, probably where the zombie virus originated. Most of the stuff though is actually underground. That's why there are 6 giant diesel generators, way more than would be necessary for any kind of facility of that size. The elevator is right in the middle next to the room full of file cabinets, with nowhere to go but down. With as large a facility as the generators imply, you'd expect a much bigger elevator and/or more of them, but I suspect that traffic in and out is tightly limited for security and secrecy reasons. Most of the personnel probably lived down there 24/7.

The idea that it was a non-military outpost occupied by the military after the outbreak doesn't really fit. Mostly, I can't see the military hanging flags as decorations in a building they were only occupying temporarily, nor can I see any non-governmental organization hanging them inside at all. The 3 satellite communication dishes also tell me this was in no way a local operation. There are also no nearby temporary barracks like there are at the Army Checkpoint, so if they were occupying they must have been living in the underground portion, such living quarters further suggesting the outpost was military from the start.
