So, the water has been shut off on day 2. What do I do?
I'm playing with the Open World option to change certain settings, and one of them was that the water and electricity were shut off between 0-2 months (by default it is between 0-1 months), and now that I'm on day 2 I realize that all the sinks have 20/20 water, instead of the typical infinity symbol.

Question: can the option between 0-2 months really cause the water to be shut off on day 2? Of 60 days that there is, is it cut on day 2? WTF?

And, although it probably has nothing to do with it, I have the "Lucky" perk, how ironic. By the way, I'm new, and obviously I don't know what to do in this situation.

Yep, sounds like you just got a bad roll. Water is super easy, though. All faucets/tubs/toilets will still have a one time use to get water from. You can also use empty cooking pots to collect water from rivers, collect rainwater, etc. and boil it into safe water. Full water bottles can be found in gas stations and food marts, usually several of them. You can also look for water dispensers in office buildings and the like, they have 250 units of water in each. I was going to restart the game, but you really encouraged me to keep trying with this "extra difficulty".

Thank you very much for the recommendations! I'll see how long I can survive :zaglol:

Become pot, cup (wo)man!
Collector of all open topped water containing devices leaving them all strewn about outside only to be allowed to live inside the building once they have collected that sweet sweet rainwater!

The other containers could also be used for that dirty river or puddle water as well BUT THE OPEN TOP CONTAINERS ARE KINGS!!

To answer the main question, Yes. And it can be worse than day 2. The setting says 0-2 months for a reason..as in, 0 days, to 2 months.
Water(or power) can literally shut off day 1 before the first tv show ends. But it's a very rare occurance.

Good luck though!

No problem!

Something someone told me when I first started playing Zomboid was "never restart a game. Play it out. You never know the amazing story you might miss out on" and they were right. I encourage you to play it out to the bitter end, even if you end up dying of dehydration. This game is a great story teller, but you'll never get to enjoy it if you don't let the story play out! :)

At first, I thought that water was more of an issue too. Your characters doesn't drink that much water per day so like they said you can manage until you get more permanent solutions.

Know this, you do not need to wash yourself or your clothes. I thought the blood could give you the virus but other players corrected me on that. At this point in time, it has no effect. So the only water you need is for consumption.

I was quite scared that the water was shut off so soon because I have the perk that increases my water consumption, but for now I will try to survive in this game.

By the way, I didn't know you didn't need to wash yourself or your clothes! I always did it believing that I was going to get sick or catch the virus.

Thank you and everyone for your advice!

I did the same. It's logical right ? Most logical things are true in this game. It's just that blood related stuff hasn't been implemented yet or something I suppose.

Also try to get your carpentry up so you can build rain collectors. I tend to grab all the garbage bags I come across early as you'll need those to build them. Once you get about 3 or 4 of them up, your water needs are pretty much nil. You can also plumb a rain collector above a sink and get clean water that way.
