Sleeping In A Car

I just died when frantically rushing to the nearest house in my truck to sleep there. I was exhausted so I couldn't swing my sledgehammer to fight the two zombies on the lawn. I was wondering, after googling it seems you can sleep in a car. I want to know if it's a good idea? If I make sure there are no zombies in sight and sleep in the car will I be ok? And if zombies do show up banging on the windows will I be able to wake up and drive off? I think it would be ideal if you could put curtains up so they can't see you inside the car while you sleep.

Anyway I want to know if sleeping in a car is a valid strategy if you're in the middle of nowhere? And are some vehicles better than others? I like the idea of a mobile base and dislike having to drive to a house to sleep.

That's a good idea. My dash bulldriver has 2 seats, am I going to get neck ache sleeping in the driver seat?
I think my mistake was thinking my character would collapse eventually after being ridiculously tired for long enough but it just makes your character weak and stamina doesn't regenerate. If I had known this I probably wouldn't have rushed to a house and taken my time, found a good house with no zombies around.

I sleep in cars pretty often, actually. Sometimes you can find buildings with garage doors (warehouses, "u store it,' etc) that are safe but bedless. I just pull in, shut the door and sleep.

Make sure to turn off your car, though

How can I tell what seat quality my dash bulldriver truck is? Seems like the best vehicle in the game from what I can tell.

Use vehicle mechanics and click one of the seats.

By the way if zombies DO manage to get to your window, they'll wake you up beating on it and then you can either swap seats and get out or drive away. Just don't sleep there if your window is broken or nearly broken, replace the window first.
