How do you guys play PZ?

Hey everyone,
I was just wondering how you people play Project Zomboid? When you start up your game, what are you're top priorities? (I'm not new, just curious and a fan of everything PZ)
I usually have a rough idea of where I want to set up my base, I always live in built up areas. I use a printed out map of the town I'm staying in (from Benjamin Schieder's online map), crossing off buildings that I've looted. I find myself living in small spaces like a room or two with at least two exits.

How do you guys and girls prepare to die? :D

My first priority is a melee weapon. After that, I make bandages out of whatever material is around (sheets, clothes). Then I go after food and water-- enough to last a few days. At that point I'll pick out a spot to fortify. Travel there, gather supplies. Build a safehouse and use that to rest and organize in between supply/objective runs. i aim to be able to harvest some crop or other before the water goes off, that and 2 or 3 rain barrels

Most games I play, either in SP or MP with friends is to try and find a nice quiet neighborhood to hunker down and fortify several houses while we alternate killing zombies in the surrounding area. Farming isn't a must, but it's nice to have a reliable source of food, along with a rain barrel or two at level two carpentry.

I like to use the main road as a kind of zombie zig zag assault course.
Its like pretending to be on takeshi's castle or something!
Also step 1 in any playthrough is to vandalise your neighbour's house, gives some nice backstory to your guy and in case he's doomed he can die happy in knowledge you put one over on ol' jerkface.
When NPCs are in I'll go into full survival attempts, till then I just have fun thinking of stupid/ dangerous stuff to do and laugh when I actually survive.
Shotgun rampages, keep zombie friend as a pet etc.

I like to RP that my character is unaware of the zombie apocalypse so i'll hang out in my spawning house for a few days until the zombies force their way in or I run out of food and have to go "shopping" for more.

From there it depends on my spawning house. If I like the location I'll fortify it, make a nice port in the storm and then go on search and destroy missions to clear out the zombies in the immediate area, fortify those homes as an outer barrier and stockpile all my important equipment in my safehouse. Otherwise I'll hunt down farming supplies and spend a week or two slowly making my way out of town and set up shop in some out of the way place where I can still venture into town if I need to.

My first two priorities always are to stockpile as much non-perishable food as possible and acquire enough equipment to start crafting before the warehouses and places like that get sizable hordes around them.

After I have the basic defenses around my outpost, I usually start searching for farming stuff and save all the perishable food I can, before they start rotting.

When i spawn, i like to search a house near town and near woods. I fortify windows and start to loot every house around (i break windows and doors of houses looted for memory). When i have weapon and stuff for long trip, i go to warehouse and take everything in there (nails, axe, weapon, seeds, etc).

Then i start have enough materiels, i start to build mwood house near the woods.
I always build a house with small first floor without windows, with a stairs and make a big second floor.
On the second floor i build cabinet, tent, etc.
I start to farming on the second floor with soil take in bag and put on second floor.
When everythings goes well, i do trip to every house of the town more and more far and kill every zombie (except when they're too many, i kill a little a come back for finish the job :)

I try to carry everything i can till my back breaks or i die to a horde that grabbed me while i had my movement speed compromised.
