Flashlights in general or the item Flashlight?
I'm guessing the latter because nighttime is risky without lighting and I doubt anyone is running missions at night without a flashlight, so: Flashlight is amazing and it's the next best thing to playing in day time.
Flashlights for mid-late game when I'm efficient at killing, stacks of food, coffee, vitamins, tea bags, I can continue clearing huge areas even at night, I don't need to wait for day time or take breaks needing to sleep.
Failing that, it'd be a modded torch that I can wear on my belt or rigging, I guess. I've never used a vanilla torch for anything other than electrical XP.
I've decided to go with Flashlight.
Why:
* the only drawback is the 1.0 weight, but I don't mind being burdened temporarily until the night is over, at which point I can just put it back in my backpack
* I try to avoid the night time as much as possible, so the tediousness of putting it in my backpack would be minimal
I have Cat Eyes, but it works best on pavement / road. In areas where there's grass, it's not as good.
That's a good mod.
A dozen zombies came out of the woods at night and harassed my barricades.
They definitely have their use for emergencies, so I always keep one in my backpack.
In such situations having a wider lighting angle makes running into zombies less dangerous, so flashlights is what I use.
Resource efficiency be damned.
Yeah, they really are nice to have. It's pretty much the same vision cone as your character's.
They drain faster than Hand Torch, but batteries are a renewable resource with Zombies carrying Walkie-Talkies and radios in almost every house, and it's always a good idea to carry an extra battery or two on you, even with Hand Torch.
Is there any advantage to making a Lamp on Pillar?
One thing I don't like is that it requires a flashlight, which requires batteries. Normally not a big deal, but I'd hate having to be on top of swapping out batteries so often.
If I need outdoor lighting, I'll try and get those floodlights in hardware stores or just steal an outdoor lamp from another house.
Also if you are building electrics up then you will have more batteries than you’ll ever use
The only other thing I’d use a battery on is a hand radio for the weather. And even those are not that important if your car radio worked.
