Crouching in the middle of the street doesn't make you harder to spot.
thanks, maybe thats why, so any idea how i explore stealthy?
thanks
Zoom out and pan your camera forward and all around to see what lies ahead. To pan your camera, hold the aim button down and move your mouse cursor towards the edges of the screen. Or you can bind a key for Pan Camera in the settings, but that's only for the direction you're currently facing (but this key is important if you want to pan the camera while inside a vehicle).
Crouching makes your footsteps quieter. If a zombie has their back turned, you can sneak up on them without alerting them if you're crouched. And obv you gain XP for Lightfooted and Sneaking when you crouch walk around unalerted zombies, which helps you stealth (and the distance at which the XP is rewarded is pretty long). Bonus points for aiming while crouchwalking, as you gain XP for Nimble, Lightfooted, and Sneaking.
Learn to pull 1-3 zombies away from a hoard in order to deal with that hoard and prevent backpedaling (which could possibly alert other zombies). The key here is to know the max distance at which they can spot you and the distance they can hear your footsteps. Knowing this will help you draw the stragglers from the hoard.
BTW, the splat sound that plays when you kill a zombie (and possible any attack sounds, I can't recall) alerts other zombies near by from about a 5-7 tile distance. Just something to keep in mind.
bear in mind if there is a zed near the wall or around the corner, they can instantly bite you while you are sneaking through them. (This can happen around corners or if you are sneaking north of a southern wall or fence)
If they're alerted like when they're chasing you or when they follow a sound this distance is much farther (going outside during a thunderstorm is a bad idea, since they're constantly alerted by random lightning strikes).
Breaking the line of sight is key to losing them.
A cheat they have is that they still get your exact location even when out of sight for the next three seconds (if not otherwise configured in sandbox settings).
Meaning you need to break the line of sight for multiple seconds and then escape on a different tangent.
When trying to lose them in a forest you need several lines of trees between you and the horde to really block vision.
A single glance through the tree gaps is enough to reset the 3 seconds tracking after the loss of sight.
yes i learned that in a hard way, jumpscare is bad tho
with one or two zombies i just kill them, i was and still newbie so 3 or more zombies is harsh to m, i usually stealth hordes of them
Let them see you, kill them.
Destroy them, make them regret seeing you and even to think to approach you and your trusted weapon.
