zombies resurrect
Lately I often encountered zombies I have already killed to stand up again a few day later. The zombies, I killed in the beginning, rotted away and left some maggots. It is really annoying when I pass a cleared area and suddenly the zombies I just passed return to unlife and attack me from behind. Is that normal or something new or a bug?

Its a fake death mechanic, its new. You can actually see them moving when approaching their corpses, so pay attention.

Resurrecting zombies, eh? Devs better be planning to add decapitation as a mechanic soon. Burning Crimson Heads is all well and good, but it's a lot cooler blowing their skulls to smithereens with a shotgun :stronk:

In all seriousness though, is this a mechanic you can modify? Base level by disabling and enabling it, but also possibly making it so zombies that resurrect later come back stronger, as sprinters, reanimate only at night time, etc etc, stuff like that? Because that would be cool as hell to have that degree of customisation for gameplay modes! :winter2019happysnowman:

It's intentional. They're called in game as 'Fake Death' zombies.

Each slain zombie have a small chance to get up and walk again after x time has passed.

It makes giant piles of rotting corpses exciting to come back to...and streets full of dead zombies are now much more dangerous to revisit if you haven't cleaned them up.

Don't you revisit your zombie piles for maggot harvesting?
