How do you use a workbench?

i cant figure it out. fo you place it, ou use it as a bag/container? its confused me so far

Is this the Workbench from the Hydrocraft mod?

To use it you need to just "drop" it on the ground and when you have a craftable item that requires a workbench, you simply need to stand near it.

It counts as a container so the best way to know you're at the workbench is when the container for it pops up in the loot menu. (You can also store stuff like nails and glue inside of it as a handy way to stay organized)

Ok I get it now. I had a carpenter bench which I built. Then I right clicked on the ground while having the bench sitting next to me. The "building" options which have a lot of stuff had an option to build a carpenter bench. Weird since I already had one. So I clicked on that option and it took my carpenter bench and rebuilt it into something that looked the same but was now a two container item. Now I can build ladders with it.

That's really weird how that works and not very intuitive. But at least I can build the advanced items.
