Obese trait
Does anyone else like taking obese for the free points? I like losing weight once the power goes out and eating very little food while hording it and getting skinny.

I also like to roleplay a healthy at all sizes lesbian who's amazing at everything during this.

It was because of this post that I chose the obese trait. I did all kinds of searches to see if it were actually possible to lose the trait and eventually come out ahead because of the amount of extra points you can spend. I couldn't find a source confirming that the trait would actually go away, so I wanted to let everyone know.

I actually lost the obese trait! It took me 12 days (in game days) of running around and keeping myself on the verge between hungry and very hungry. My weight started at 105, and when I got to 99 it switched from obese to overweight. I made sure to get myself winded as much as possible, and rest when I could.

I was amazed at how little I had to eat. I was eating one or two pieces of fruit a day, picking the "eat 1/4" each time I became very hungry. It was quite a lot of work to get rid of this trait. I will be pretty upset when I make a stupid mistake and get taken down by a zombie. I'm not sure how long people usually survive. I am still fairly new to the game and this is the longest for me.

You don't need to keep your character hungry. Feeling hungry (which does not affect your weight) and calories (which do affect your weight) are two different things. You can be "very well fed" on low calorie food and still lose weight.

All in all, "Obese" should be max 6 points and "Overweight" max 4, or even less. It's the "Underweight" and "Very underweight" that is more of a negative trait.

i had a thread asking this kind of stuff, like loss of hearing can be fix with hearing aids, very underweight or obese can be fixxed by eating right, you can get strout ( idk about strong but it should also work with strong because it only adds points which in turns adds carry weight) by carrying heavy loads or by shoving a tree ( this also makes finness go up too)

Wow really? So it's all about the calories then? Can you give some examples as to how I could get really filling low calorie food? I wonder if the cooking skill factors into this. That would mean that the hunger rating and the calories aren't necessarily correlated.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to go shove some trees and see what happens!

An example of filling, low-calorie food would be vegetable salads (if you want to level up cooking) of just vegetables and fruits.

However, the key to losing weight is to just get below -1500 calorie counter (hidden from the player, but you can tell by that you start to lose weight), and then eating low-calorie food, or even high-calorie food, but not too much at a time to avoid bumping the calorie counter above -1500.

That's very helpful. Thanks! I'll try that out.

Wait is this actually true ?? There's a caloric counter in this game ? o_O
TLDR this wall of text. But in case anyone hasn't said it yet taking the obese trait is good if you are doing a six months later run. Food is hard to come by in that run so having a little extra padding can help you survive longer
