Unemployed best occupation?
What are your thoughts? Ive come to the conclusion in trying to make the perfect build that unemployed is where its at. Skills just seem incredibly easy to level aside from fitness/strength.

I first thought burgler was good but then I realized you could get lvl 2 mechanics and 1 electrical on day 1.

This comes down to what you want to do. Security guard for me is my current favorite due to the boost to all exercise regularity, fitness, and night owl perk.

Technically unemployed is not an occupation at all... But you are right. Its the most versatile.
Seems to me to have the biggest payoff long term since everything else occupation wise isnt so unique and can be gained over time. The extra points from unemployed you can pickup more unique traits.

I'll always like Lumberjack or Fire Officer, myself.

I quite like unemployed hunter ("Work? Ha! Good one. Nah, I hunt"), but I would not say it is the strongest.

Burglar is good, not because of the hotwiring, but for the sneakiness and fence vaulting without hurting yourself.

Exactly! It's more a way of life.
Sneaking seems kinda trash in this game. I'm somewhat new but thats how it seems so far. I tried snesking at first but zombies spot you from miles away and when one sees you its kinda pointless then.

Sneaking, Lightfooted are 2 seperate traits in how they work as well. Some traits can not be taken as their occupation locked as well (Lumberjack and security officer are examples), which is why some occupations are better at things but unemployed is universal.

u take burglar for nimble, nothing else.
and sneaking works, its just more difficult than just bashing zeds 1by1.
but if you play a bit in sandbox settings, add some spicy mods to increase dificulty,
sneaking is always a valuable choice, cause you cant bash zeds 1by1.

I used to rock 'Burglar' all the time.

Burglar is good for nimble, firefighter is good if you want to start with 10 strength and fitness, lumberjack is good for making your character an axe-blender, engineer is good if you want to watch the world burn, repairman is good if you want to poke things with a long sharp stick.

Quite a few good choices, but yes, unemployed is very versatile.

Nimble seems to be good for bashing zed builds though

yep it is.
and the beauty of burglar is you have even sneaking and lightfoot xp multi 100%
so its very handy to mix both playstyles, kiting with nimble large hordes and kill them or
just sneak away if too many or you just have bad moodlets.

I just run around a house and abuse the pathfinding system and then run away to the next house and kill 1 or 2 zombies that spot me and bam safe.
Grishnerf Aug 25, 2022 @ 12:15pm
if i run to the next house there waits another horde of 25.
you need around sneak level 3+ to see any advantages.
you can sneak next to them in the open with a high skill.

and i wouldnt call that abusing, its how the zed ai works.
they memorize your last spot (behind the house corner), after all they dont have walklhack like some people here think :D
so they randomly roam around that spot, but have lost you.
its even easy to kite hordes just aorund one house around 2 corners.
they are truly dumb zeds.
