No way you're going two months of not leveling them up, that's insane.
Just go to the bookstore, get the "Beginner" Mechanic and Electrical books, find a screwdriver and wrench (almost always in a car trunk). From there it's just taking off car parts, reinstalling them once, then move on to the next car.
I don't understand why people try to level up Mechanic without the books, that's your mistake
Unless you disable crawlers, they should still get under cars though, from my understanding. I don't use them like that, so I actually don't know, kind of curious.
