Is it possible to host multiplayer with mods now?

On a private server, ya just have to make everyone edit their own Mod Options to match the server. On a public server, you're hosed. At best you get stuck on default. At worst a troll comes in with intentionally pooched settings to ♥♥♥♥ with people.

It's one of the big reasons I avoid Hydrocraft. Mod has a lot of potential, but man oh man can it make a mess with the wrong settings. Plus I think the mod author's on hiatus?

Did you add the mod ID and workshop ID? Also, separate the mods with ;
if you use commas, it won't work.
you can buddy, im running over 100 mods on mine, no problem at all, just make sure they're all compatibly with each other

You need to add the mods in "Steam Workshop" tab when making the server preset then check the "Mods" tab if all mods are correct (some mods have sub-mods that are just specific versions of said mods)
For some reason, Zomboid likes to redownload all of your mods when trying to host a server from within the game. Regardless if the mods already are downloaded via Steam, that's why sometimes it'll be "stuck" on initializing server.

Edit: everything above is for hosting in-game, I've no idea how to host using the dedicated server.

this is how i was doing it. I played game with a friend and while we added 6 mods none of them worked and we played vanilla.
Well, anyway it seems its not pz problem, but its something from my side, at least i know its something i should be able to fix.

Doesn’t setting the Mod Options config file to read only on the server solve that problem?
