Having issues setting up Plumbing
I currently have a Metal Barrel and a normal Rain Collector sitting right above a sink installed onto a wooden crate outside. The Barrel and Rain Collector are both 1 tile off from where the Sink is below. Both have water. I have a Pipe Wrench in my hand. With all this when I right click I don't have the option to plumb the sink. What am I doing wrong?

Are they ABOVE as in 1 floor higher or just on some object above the ground?

AFAIK
Sink floor 1.
Barrel floor 2.

Sink must be under or any adjacent tile below the barrel.

Not sure if it works if it doesn't stand on the floor itself.
Remove the crate, put it onto a floor.

The room with the sink has to be an interior room?

Yes the Collectors are 1 floor above the sink. I have the collectors on the flat roof part and the sink on the porch of the Farmhouse North of Mauldrah

you need a room without upstairs or not in the room ; upstairs outside the house or rope

This Reddit post explains it pretty well.

Make sure that the room with the sink is fully indoors, I.E. enclosed by walls, doors and windows. Make sure that the rain barrel is ONE floor above and ONE tile behind.
If you want to plumb washing machines, there is a bug that needs you to restart the save or leave the area after plumbing for it to register correctly.
Good luck and happy surviving!
i moved a sink and have no option to "plumb", not using a rain barrel, just regular plumbing.

The sink needs to be enclosed, the rain collector can now be directly above or 1

I'm not sure if this has changed or was always the case, but in order to plumb a sink, the sink has to have been placed by the player. You can't plumb a sink that was world generated.

I've plumbed a world generated sink before. The sink was on a map from a mod, though. Not sure if it makes a difference.

I connected a sink to barrels above but the tooltip says the water is unlimited? Is that because water isn't shut off yet? I was preparing *before* it gets shut off. I thought it was not possible to connect a new sink to the map's starting plumbing network?

My understanding is if it's in a building that still has power/water, it will automatically hook up to it

Thanks jerry.

No problem. You can do this with stoves and what-not too if you want to move them around oro e thing to a structure in the early days that doesn't have them. Like moving an electric stove to a warehouse.
