Does putting pot or frying pan on stove heat it up?

Can we use Place Item on pots and pans to put them on the oven's stove and boil water that way? It's weird putting it inside the oven and I thought I seen it in some videos.

You have to put them "in" the oven. If you have anything in them, like water or food, they start boiling/cooking.
Video you've seen might have someone using a mod. Its not possible in the base game.
